Thanks to all for your comments! Taking the tips here I went out and figured out where I was wrong. One of the black Jandy valves was not turned correctly. I had turned the valve to open the spa drain, but I had not turned it to CLOSE OFF the main drain. Once I moved the OFF position one...

Help with working valves on new spa/pool combo

sure, I'll take a pic of the valves. Here is what I did so far. I left the pool pump on but turned the valve to shut off the returns to the pool so that all water returned is coming out the spa. I turned on the spa pump so that system is working. Hot water is coming out of the returns and...

New spa has very weak jets. Any advice?

This is a new spa and is an owner/build. I have finally gotten the spa jet internals installed in my spa and the pressure is pitiful. The spa return line has more power than the jets. It is an 8' diameter spa with 6 jets. It has it's own 2.5 HP whisperflo pump. I checked online and found a...

I have not been able to get my pump to hold a prime for more than a few hours, and it is difficult to get a prime in the first place. I have tried shutting off the main drain line as well as the skimmers, but it still will not hold a prime. I have primed my filter and can get all the air out...

Thanks for the help and shared story! We switched the 2 that were backward last night and it was working fine. However I am not sure if the vacuum in the filter is 100% this morning. You know that small clear plastic bulb at the top of the filter that fills with water after the air is sucked...

Diamonbrite being installed today. IS THIS RIGHT???

Hey Steven, thanks for the first hand knowledge. Can you tell me if you had the circulation on during the period of time that you dropped the ph and were brushing? I thought it would ruin your pump etc, if you ran the pump during a no drain acid wash. How long did you leave the ph this low...

How to fill in gunite around spa jets?

I used the Waterway spa jets in my new pool build. As per the instruction you must cone the gunite back 4” behind the PVC pipe when finishing the wet gunite. I explained this to the guy during the shoot to which he replied "I know how to do these, this is the kind we always work with."...

Pics of Repair!! Gunite guys forgot to shoot skimmers.

Picture of repair I got the guy that has been doing most of the work on my pool to do the pegging to the skimmer area yesterday. I told him how it was recommended here that it be done. However..... he insisted that using one bar of rebar bent around was better than two on each side bent back...

    owner/builder plumbing question.....

I agree with what you are saying about telling him to do it. However...... if as he says "I never do that" then should I really trust him to do it properly. I was thinking if this was a 2 or 3 hour job my husband and I would just do it ourselves. I'll let you know what we decide.

    owner/builder plumbing question.....

No pressure test IThank you for all the replies. I asked him last week if the plumbing had bee pressure tested yet. His reply "No, I never pressure test my plumbing. I haven't had a problem yet." So...... I think I will be doing the pressure testing myself. I found a pool site that said...

    owner/builder plumbing question.....

More questions with this pool build. I bought a subsciption to the "How i build my own pool "site to help me with my owner/build but the order in which the guy that is doing my pool just doesn't match up with that site so often! I am hoping there is more than one way to do the plumbing. He ran...
