Is it that big, Pentair quad DE 60?

Thanks. I was just surprised at the size of the entire filter. Maybe I'm just used to seeing the 60 sq ft filter grid style filters. The grids alone were 30" tall and 7 of them. Why didn't the pool builder put in a backwash valve? At least it would save some time instead of taking the entire...

Is it that big, Pentair quad DE 60?

Just an observation, a friend has been taking care of his pool for about a year and cleaned the filter a couple months ago. About 15k gallon salt water gunite pool. He asked me to look as to why the water wasn't flowing as good and he has the VS pump and it's set on speed 3. Turns out the...

    Pentair VS motor fan removal

Yep, it's just a press fit. Took the armature out to replace the bearings and the fan slid right off the splined shaft

    Pentair IC40

My opinion? From a homeowner, you can have my salt pool. I've been thinking of going back to chlorine floaters and save me the grief and money. I've already replaced one IC40 and now another is flashing "low life". Our water conditions isn't helping. The calcium deposits that they leave behind...

    Pentair VS motor fan removal

I have a broken fan blade and also a spare motor with the fan. How do you remove the fan? Looks like a press fit? I can't believe the price. http://www.tcpoolequipment.com/pool-equ ... p10073.htm

    Exploding pool!!!

I'll have to pay closer attention to things, hopefully before anything goes wrong. This was one of those things that you assume is OK since you look and all the lights are green so you're good to go. The light is red for a split second when it comes on and then changed to green, but no water was...

    Exploding pool!!!

Yes, that's what it is. The first metal tab is very thin and bends easily. They were both touching so a slight bend moved them apart and working correctly now. Sure was a much less expensive repair than buying a new generator.

    Exploding pool!!!

Where'd everyone go? Was great talking with everyone and glad to get things worked out. For now the cables are switched until I talk things over with pool builder. Found the flow switch tab was too close together. I just made it the same distance apart as the good generator and all is good...

    Exploding pool!!!

I switched the cords coming out of the cell itself, nothing involving the wiring or boxes. I think I need to have a discussion again with the pool builder. I can't keep paying for his mistakes everytime there's a problem.

    Exploding pool!!!

You guys are right again. The flow light goes from red to green as soon as it comes on before water is flowing. The pump didn't even turn on yet.

    Exploding pool!!!

So it's a wiring problem and not a programming problem? Fortunately the electric cords are long enough I can swap them around. Since I always saw them both on, I never thought it would cause a problem. Thank you all for helping me out. It was everyone's ideas that helped me sort out the...

    Exploding pool!!!

Uh oh, just sinking in from all the replies. While I was looking for the intake leak on the pool side, I noticed the SWG wasn't on when the pump was on. When both pumps, spa and pool, are on everyday, both SWGs are on. I turn the spa pump on and the SWG comes on to the pool side. I believe the...

    Exploding pool!!!

No, nothing like that. Some legal matters between homeowners and golf course and rv park might lead to some jackwagon retaliating in a childish way. Equipment is fairly inaccessible unless someone wants to jump a 6' wall.

    Exploding pool!!!

I won't get into that but that was the first thing that came to everyone's mind. Some issues in the developement. But we had a house full of people. gates were locked. I wouldn't rule anything out. If none of the other issues I addressed hadn't happened, vandalism would be at the top of the list.

    Exploding pool!!!

Those were my thoughts also. Maybe the combination of air and water has harsher effects than just compressed air. The odd thing, like someone else said, is to the location of the break. The valve was turned slightly so some water would always be going to the spa and the most of the water going...

    Exploding pool!!!

Sorry for not quoting individual replies. Yes, the natural gas lines are wrong or at least the size. The Pentair rep came out to fix one of the heaters and he told the builder they were wrong. As far as plumbing and loops, I don't know. Everytime I have someone come out and fix something they...

    Exploding pool!!!

I've seen quite a few of the Pentair filter tops crack and also the bottom where the ribs are and they'll split there over time. The sun can be brutal out here especially in the summer when temps are common in the 110*+ range. Last year when the filter top cracked cleanly just above the...

    Exploding pool!!!

Those are for the negative edges, one for the upper pool and one for the main pool. I'm guessing the check valves keep the pump primed and also to keep the water from draining back down to the trough. Not sure why they plumbed the intake with 3" pipe, maybe it's 3 1/2". Either way it seems...

    Exploding pool!!!

Sorry, I need to update my profile. I live in the hottest place on earth, almost. Lake Havasu City , AZ. The week before we did get down to about 30* but the "freeze on" was working. Damage could have occured then and finally this past weekend it broke but it only got down to 55*. Nobody heard...

    Exploding pool!!!

SWG aren't lit up when pumps are off. The pumps start in a slower mode and then jump into high gear after a few seconds. Not sure if I still have the pics of the pool equipment. It's a huge pool with miles of piping,so the pool builder says. Not really sure how much but I'm thinking of the...

    Exploding pool!!!

I should also add more problems to help diagnose the problem. The pool is less than 4 years old. Last year the filter top cracked all around the clamping ring. Blew completely off like someone cut it around the top part of the ring. I clean the filters often (non DE) since it's a large pool and...

    Exploding pool!!!

It varies a few psi at the filter when the pop ups rotate. I've installed brand new filters and it's never been below 28psi.

    Exploding pool!!!

If there was a blockage, how much pressure can these pumps put out? A 2hp VS pump? Also, if there was air in the line, wouldn't air compress vs a hydraulic effect with water? I was just amazed as to how the pvc shattered vs just a joint breaking. Good thing I was there since one chunk was more...

    Exploding pool!!!

There are separate pumps/heaters/filters for spa and pool side and both were running freeze protection. Yes, there was a pool vac running and occasionaly sucks air if it gets high on the wall. But nothing seems blocked after as far as any of the returns. Water is cold and I believe the salt...

    Exploding pool!!!

Anybody ever see pvc explode like this? Nothing blocked. All pop ups clear. Someone said an air pocket. It appears to have a bit of air bubbles in the sight cover of pump. Air bubbles do come out of some pop ups. Pump was on high speed. 30 psi at filter. It was after salt generator. Salt...
