To drain or not to drain

So far so good. Have held FC at 10 for three days. Multiple brushing and vacuums. CC has registered zero two days in a row. Overnight drop test next. Hoping to add salt and start using SWG soon. Cold snap has hit and water is 55 degrees. I don't think the SWG will operate at that...

To drain or not to drain

Thank you for confirming. I am in process of changing out a substantial amount of the water. Temps here in Ohio are forecast for 45 F high the next seven days so it seems like a good time to do this. Then I will refill add salt and start the SLAM process to kill off any residual algae that...

To drain or not to drain

Okay just so I am doing the math correct, 28,000 gallons is just a tick 3.6 million ounces. So i would add 10(3.6) or 36 ounces of 10%liquid chlorine? When I use the pool app from 0 to a goal of 4 FC it suggests 121 ounces. Where is my thinking off? Thank You

    Lube hayward multflo

I have the traditional hayward multiflo valve on SWG pool. It is going on its 4th year with no problems. However, I notice the valve doesnt turn as nice as it once did. I always shut off the pump. I always rinse after backwashing and also make sure I always go the same direction when...

    Pressure Vs. Robot

All great comments. The debris I am looking at is fine dust rather than large leaves. I am really not looking to tunnel the deck, so I guess the post now becomes HOW good of a robot do I need? Of those that have them, there seems to be a big & difference when you jump up to a unit that has a...

    Pressure Vs. Robot

I have a 30,000 gallon L-salt pool that I would like to add a pool cleaner to. I did not account for this when building....my fault. So now I am trying to decide between a robotic (aquabot) and a pressure cleaner like the polaris 280 which seems to be highly recommended here. My question is...

    Closing and Sp1022C eyeball plugs

Re: Closing an in ground pool So now I really have myself messed up: I purchased the SP1022C plugs for my hayward eyeballs and could not get a airtight seal. No matter how many times I wrapped the threads with teflon on how tight I made them there were a small amount of bubbles that escaped...

    Closing and Sp1022C eyeball plugs

Re: Closing an in ground pool Thanks for the great comments: here is the plan... I will lower the level 4 inches below the skimmer face. I will then blow down the system through the drain port in the pump with my compressor. Since I built my pump station(pic attached) to include ball valves...

    Closing and Sp1022C eyeball plugs

Re: Closing an in ground pool Thanks for the opinions, but what about the water level? I see where I could blow out the returns and plug using the aircompressor and then add a gizzmo. Has anyone used the SIMPOOL plugs and left the water level as shown? http://www.amazon.com/SIMPOOLTEC-Mouth-...

    Closing and Sp1022C eyeball plugs

I have read all of the thread and I must say for a first time pool closer it is a little scary as the information seems to vary. So I will try and sway this toward my specific pool: I live in Northeast Ohio where the winters can be brutal. I have a 30,000 gallon SWG pool new this year. I am...
