Multiport spider gasket replacement didn’t fix backwash leak

Now I have to figure out how to actually use the variable speeds of my new Intelliflow VSF through my old intellitouch panel. Seems like programming it is easier through the panel on the pump than it is through the intellitouch for anything other than selecting one speed/flow rate and...

Multiport spider gasket replacement didn’t fix backwash leak

Multiport replaced…everything appears to be working well and water isn’t draining out of the pump when it’s off so far, so hopefully problem solved. Only minor is sue is a few tiny bubbles coming out of two pool jets, but other than that all good. Thanks for the help guys!

Multiport spider gasket replacement didn’t fix backwash leak

Thanks James. I replaced the air release valve a year or two ago, but I’ll check the seal on it.

Multiport spider gasket replacement didn’t fix backwash leak

Update: The leak out of the waste port now stops after dripping a bit during pump start up. However water is still draining out of the pump and filter when the pump stops, causing the pump to have to re-prime every time it starts sending big air bubbles through the pool lines on start up. I...

Next question…is replacing an entire threaded multiport valve pretty straightforward or would y’all recommend a professional?

Multiport spider gasket replacement didn’t fix backwash leak

I did lube the gasket. I wouldn’t say the spring tension feels weak once I get to that point, but there is some play in the handle before I feel the tension when pressing it down. I’ll check the pin, hadn’t noticed. Thanks!

I’ll give that a shot, thanks. If that doesn’t do it is there anything else to try?

Multiport spider gasket replacement didn’t fix backwash leak

Looks like it was not a pentair OEM gasket. As far as if I perfectly replaced it or not, who knows, first time doing it. Scraped away the old gasket and glued the new one in. I’ll crack it open again and give it a look.

Multiport spider gasket replacement didn’t fix backwash leak

I have a Praher SM20-2 that was leaking through the waste port at about 2 drops per second. Replaced the spider gasket and it’s still leaking. Tried the ‘over-rotate then back to filter‘ trick to no avail. Now I’m trying to determine if replacing the handle spring could somehow improve the...
