    Choosing a pump

If you are going with large enough plumbing, I'd go with an Intelliflo. They'll go up to 3hp. Great for the spa, but you will probably need a heater bypass.

Pools close to the freeway. Is the water safe to swim in?

We have 2 above ground pools within 200 ft of a very busy freeway. When I vacuum once a week there is a black powdery something spread very evenly along the bottom. The filter catches it just fine and the water is crystal clear. I 'm just wondering if the water is safe to swim in or not. I'm...

Multiport Valve Gasket- Lube or Caulk?

Go to a push/pull valve would be my recommendation. They let water flow a lot more efficiently and no spider gasket to worry about.

Re: tiki lamp oil in pool

Re: tiki lamp oil in pool Try Pool First Aid. It's a more concentrated version of Pool Perfect and works great on oils IMO. This would probably be the easiest way to go.

    Lots of fertilizer in pool

Hi there, I'm pretty new here but I've been in the pool business for 13 years. I ran into something new today and would appreciate some advice. I went to clean a customer's pool today and got a big surprise. No, there weren't any topless girls sunbathing around the pool. I discovered that...

Converting a Polaris Eos to a Aqualink RS

Here is the situation. I moved into a house and the pool has a Polaris Eos automation system, Polaris salt system, wireless antennae, and various other equipment. I have not been able to find the wireless remote or the charging base, and am starting to think it's gone. I believe my options are...

Replacing Polaris 380 - Is Hayward Phantom less maintenance?

If you're tired of paying for the electricity to run 2 pool pumps you can convert you're pressure side line into a vacuum line. Then you can eliminate the booster pump, and use a Baracuda (1 moving part) which will remove dirt and leaves. These work great unless you have an oddly shaped pool.

check out these new "solar rings". They are real convenient because they are easy to toss into the pool. Solar covers can be a pain for most people.

    Vacuuming Intex metal Frame pool

Use a vacuum hose to siphon water out of the pool. While the water is draining, get into the pool and use the end of the hose to drain the dirt and algae out. Then, you'll just have to put some water back into the pool.

    Chlorine Tabs in pump?

The only way that would be ok is if you ran the pump 24 hrs a day. It's when the pump shuts off that you have a problem. The water will turn into acid an corrode your equipment.

    too much pump

I finally bought an above ground pool. I work at a pool store which is why I got a great deal on a pump and filter. The pool is only 15' round and the pump is a 1.5 hp for above ground pools. It's connected to the pool by 2-1.5" hoses 6 ft long each. Basically the pump is just too strong, and...

    Unexpected Outcome Bleach vs. Algae

Granulated trichlor like AlgiBan work great for killing algae. Lugging all that liquid around is too much work for me. Even if trichlor is a little more expensive, it makes up for that in convenience factor.

    new here, in Southern Ca.

Thanks for the welcome. I've been in retail mostly. Leslie's for about 7 yrs. and a few other places in the Inland Empire. Right now I'm at a smaller company. Looks like most people here are pool owners vs. people in the industry.
