It happened to me too...we had some warm enough days in Feb/March for algae to take hold. I bleached it to kill the algae and had to vacuum to waste to get the dead algae out. I still have another run to go at it, but that is the best way after you screw up.

That is a big reason to go with a resin pool if you haven't gotten a pool yet. Mine is approved for salt water.

Im in Virginia too, and although it was 70 here today, the water in the pool is just inching up past 40...way too cold for algae to grow. I'm open due a cover failure, and the mild winter convinced me not to wrestle the cover. I'm thinking of topping off to get a head start on getting the pool...
