Shame on me. Shame, Shame, Shame

It happened to me too...we had some warm enough days in Feb/March for algae to take hold. I bleached it to kill the algae and had to vacuum to waste to get the dead algae out. I still have another run to go at it, but that is the best way after you screw up.

    Algaecide for closing

Wait til the water is blow 60, shock and close. I don't use a cover and wait until most leaves are off trees to I've a good cleaning...shock, wait two days...pull plug.

    30' round opinions....

Oh yeah, if you are doing it diy a local pool store likely has some connections to an install crew...ask to price out the cost of leveling for the pool...it'll be a couple of hundred bucks but will save your nerves.

    30' round opinions....

a 14' round pool 48" deep (of H20...not wall height) is just shy of 5k gal...a 30' round pool at 48" is 22k gal. The SWCG you have will likely not fit the bill. I went with a cspc48 for my 30'. I would price out an all resin pool to see what the cost diff is for you. The SWCG will likely...

Nice deck RSE...I'm about to start mine and am trying to decide on a floating deck or underground footings

    Swg for agp

That is a big reason to go with a resin pool if you haven't gotten a pool yet. Mine is approved for salt water.

    Anyone else thinking about opening?

Im in Virginia too, and although it was 70 here today, the water in the pool is just inching up past 40...way too cold for algae to grow. I'm open due a cover failure, and the mild winter convinced me not to wrestle the cover. I'm thinking of topping off to get a head start on getting the pool...

    cpsc48 or circupool rj45

Thanks Bobo, I think I went through this thought process a couple of months ago...but the winter (albeit mild) has eradicated summer thoughts from my cranium. The following are the differences I noticed: - Even thought the RJ45 has a 7 yr warranty, it is only 100% for the first yr, then...

    cpsc48 or circupool rj45

So beyond the basics, is the circupool worth the increased cost? - I have a 30' AGP, with somewhere around 22k in it with the 54" walls. - I am running a Speck 2-speed pump, 1HP and 1/8th. Just put it up at the end of last summer, and had it running 24/7 since at low speed it was less than...

Finally Plumbed my AGP with PVC

MikeInTN- Nice job Mike, but why'd you need a grounding rod? I hope your pump is grounded to the panel. The reason I ask is because I ended up doing the electrical for the pool I was having put in because when queried, 2 electricians gave me different answers on requirements. I ended up...

Planning deck..any lessons learned to share

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the comments and pics. You are all doing some very nice work. How do those of you with the deck going over the top get a cover on in the winter? I guess by going under the top rail and enforcing a no jump policy could be effective...and toes left will be fed to...

Planning deck..any lessons learned to share

Hey all, Have a 30' pool and am planning a half wrap around 3' wide with a ___x___ deck for a table and lounge chairs. Anyway, I'm looking for lessons learned that you may have done different had you known what you know now...or even the, "I'm glad I did it that way" ideas. Some first...

    Power/operational requirements

Very cool then, at 1/8HP I get pretty good flow. Some day I will calculate it and get a timer. Thanks, Tim

    Power/operational requirements

Hey all, just completing my research and I notice a lot of pump run time issues with swcg's. I have a 2 speed pump for a 30' (figuring 22000 gal with 54" walls) which I run in low speed 24/7. That is 1/8th hp in low so I figure less than $1.70 or so a day. Does a swcg pump Cl all the time...

New AGP owner, advise on swcg size

Hello all, I just put up a 30' resin agp with a 300 lb filter and 2 speed 1hp pump (1/8th at low speed for 24hr operation). My intention was to make it a salt water pool, but after reading several post stating to go big on the swcg unit I wanted to ask for recommendation. I have roughly...

AGP install...bumpy liner, should I drain and reset???

Water was in for less than one day. I drained some out so the liner doesn't completely set (bout knee high now). My concern is the skimmer and return connections, I would have to unhook one to be effective in getting the air out. I may drain a bit more to see if I can remove the worst of the...

AGP install...bumpy liner, should I drain and reset???

The short of my question is I have an installer doing my 30' resin install. When starting to fill I mentioned the big footprints, and now at over half full I have craters and some creases. The main guy is willing to drain and reset the liner, but he hasn't ever had to do it. Our plan (I am now...

    Hey from VA

Just checking in, having a 30' agp installed in a few days. I got it from a local joint with some markup in trade for local parts support. Got them to change the too small filter(19') and to fast pump (1.5 HP) for a quality 244T and 1HP 2-speed. I've been reading up so I can be somewhat smart...
