    intex pool and deck build

Nice deck, jsf. I'd like to build one for our little pool next summer. There doesn't seem to be many Intex users who've gone through with a deck though...at least I haven't been able to find many pics. Would like to get more ideas. Love that slide!

    Adding sand filter to pool!

Just wanted to mention that the adapter brought up earlier in the thread does work nicely on these Summer Escapes pools. I have a 14' x 42" that has the adapter installed, and have had no problems.

    Clarification on pool startup

I didn't realize that the SWG was producing copper. I just thought the bars were somehow used in the production of chlorine. Our pool is looking great, by the way. I keep the pump running for around 12 hours a day and have lately kept the SWG running for 4. Once all the CYA is...

Hey linen, I notice in your sig that you have removed the copper bars from your SWG. Why is that?

Above ground bestway/intex pool problem with small particles

Re: Above ground bestway/intex pool problem with small parti We just bought a new pool this year and had no idea how to take care of it. The 700gph cartridge pump sure didn't help matters. I could not pull enough suction to vacuum and the salt water generator kept reporting low flow even...

    Clarification on pool startup

I didn't put it on waste, just the normal filter setting. So I guess it's all in the filter now.

    Clarification on pool startup

Uuuuhhh...so then I guess it wasn't a good idea to test out the vacuum yesterday.

    Clarification on pool startup

I climbed down the ladder this morning and squished it around a bit. Seems like it got knocked around pretty well yesterday, as it's all nearly gone now. So once it's totally gone I should be able to get a fairly accurate reading on the CYA, right? Until I'm able to get a TF kit, I'll...

New pump for 14 ft. Summer Escapes framed pool

Using the vacuum plate that came with the pool, I was able to hook the hose up and start vacuuming in no time. Took 10 minutes to get all the trash off the pool floor. Before I got this new pump, I'd fight with the vacuum for an hour. Would have to basically push the broom around the...

Not sure what the brand is, it was the only stabilizer I could find at Wal-Mart. We don't have a pool shop in town, and Ace didn't have any in stock.

    pump hook up question

Just put a new pump on mine, and it has that same skimmer. I ordered one of these and it's working great. I've seen some folks just take the impeller out of the old pump and leave it on, but I felt better ordering the adapter. Summer Escapes adapter

I'll have to try that, thanks!

    Clarification on pool startup

I filled an old sock with the CYA and tied it off to the bottom of the ladder. Then added bleach to the pool for the first couple evenings. It doesn't look like the CYA is dissolving very well. Put it in three days ago. Isn't it supposed to be totally dissolved after a week or so?

New pump for 14 ft. Summer Escapes framed pool

Was able to get the pump installed last week. Did not use the plunger valves that came with it, because my pool has a skimmer built into it. The old pump was mounted on the bottom of the skimmer, so I ordered a fitting to take its place. Then on the return port, I didn't want to have to...

Now I think I'm on the right path. Thank y'all very much for clearing that up.

    Clarification on pool startup

Yep, I meant 90 pounds of salt. :goodjob: So you're saying I should add CYA and bleach before dumping the salt in? Nothing I've read is really clear on that. If that's the case, then I would have to wait around a week before turning the SWG, right? Since the CYA takes a while to dissolve?

    Clarification on pool startup

After battling with the stock 700gph pump, I broke down and bought the Intex 1600gph sand filter pump. Since the old pump has been out of commission, the algae got out of hand before I learned what to do about it. To simplify and speed things up, decided to drain and clean the pool and then...

Waiting for new pump to arrive, water is green

Haha, thanks for the tip...although I've decided to drain the pool and clean it out completely. We should still be ready for some weekend swimming.

Waiting for new pump to arrive, water is green

I've actually decided that I'd rather start out with clear water with this new pump, rather than fight an algae problem for who knows how long. Just pulled the plug, so hopefully I'll be able to start filling it back up tomorrow. Thank you to everyone for your suggestions. I didn't realize...

Waiting for new pump to arrive, water is green

I've put the necessary amount of bleach in the pool and mixed it up well. The pump should arrive tomorrow, so hopefully we'll be able to start with half-way decent water. Went by Ace to pick up a test kit, but they only had the 2 part tests. Will check Wal-Mart out tomorrow. If the...

Waiting for new pump to arrive, water is green

We live in Central Georgia, and have a Summer Escapes 14' x 42" frame set pool with an Intex salt system chlorine generator. The small pump that came with the pool crapped out on us, so I ordered the Intex Krystal Clear Sand Pump. When the pump first went out last weekend I drained the pool...

New pump for 14 ft. Summer Escapes framed pool

So do you suppose I should go ahead and add the salt once the pool is filled back up? Even with the SWG bypassed there is very little flow. Keep me posted on that sand...I sure don't want to mess up a brand new pump!

New pump for 14 ft. Summer Escapes framed pool

Found one on Amazon's 7th Avenue Store for $149 +free shipping. Gonna take a week to get here though. To expedite to 3-day delivery was going to be an additional $190. So I'll be getting it next Tuesday. Started filling the pool back up this morning. I hope it doesn't get too bad out of...

New pump for 14 ft. Summer Escapes framed pool

Ah geez...just went to order after reading your post and now they're out of stock. I really need to find a pump in the next couple days. Hopefully there's another one that will fit my pool. Wouldn't mind one a little bigger if possible.

New pump for 14 ft. Summer Escapes framed pool

No...actually you have to buy the salt system at its regular price to get that deal.

New pump for 14 ft. Summer Escapes framed pool

Turns out the deal you posted is a bundle that includes the salt system, which I already have. Just ordering that pump isn't possible, as they're out of stock. Can you recommend another pump that would fit my pool?

New pump for 14 ft. Summer Escapes framed pool

I thought my pump was 800, but the salesperson told me it was only 700. She also mentioned that the pool could handle a 2000gph pump, but I have no idea whether that's true or not. Thanks for the info regarding the Wal-Mart deal. I'll check it out.

New pump for 14 ft. Summer Escapes framed pool

Good afternoon, I've been on the phone with General Foam trying to order a new pump for our pool. We've had it for just a couple weeks, but I'm not happy with the pump. We have the Intex salt system connected to it. Constantly get a "low flow" message on the salt system, and the return...
