My fill water hasn't given me issues. I leave it half filled during the winter, but I do add an enzyme killer that also helps staining at the top of the water level. My winter cover is not opaque (it's not see through at all) and the water is still pretty cold, so I'm guessing algae formation...

Is there any harm in filling my pool with the winter cover on if I won't be able to take the cover off until next week? I know algae won't grow since the cover is blocking the sun, but will the water stain the walls of the pool since it's not being circulated? Thanks for your help!

CYA is somewhere between 50 and 60. I'm in the shock process now so the water is blue, but slightly cloudy (dead algae). Once the shock process is done I think I'll shock to mustard algae levels for CYA 60-70 (just incase) for 24hrs, then close the pool after the FC level falls to normal shock...

I've already ruled all other ways to get algae that I can think of. Did a complete mustard algae treatment twice, cleaned the solar cover pool toys, behind lights, washed suits, etc.

Using liquid chlorine on the BBB method. Pump runs 12 hours/day, and jet is aimed diagonally down and right. I'd love to add a second jet, but I have no clue how. Is that expensive, or difficult to do myself? Also not sure how I would hook another return line to the hayward sand filter.

it only dropped 3.5-4 ppm over 3.5 days because the solar cover was on the whole time. I only lose 1ppm per day with the solar cover on the pool.

I run the pump 12 hrs/day. I had to go out of town for work for 5 days. Before I left, I brought the pool to mustard algae shock level, brushed and covered it with the solar cover. I'm letting the pump run 24/7 for the days I'm gone. I guess we will see what it looks like when I get back.

It's growing all over - middle and around the sides. It's not on the walls, just on the floor.
