    Variable Speed Opinions...

Thanks for the input Mark! I'll definitely drop the HP to save on electricity.

    Variable Speed Opinions...

Wow. Based on the "Pump Basics" in the Pool School, I'm way over powered. Our pool is 26,000 gallons, no spa, no water, just an automatic pool cleaner and a little spray nozzle that shoots water out. That's hardly on except when people are over. I'm think a 1HP would do me just fine. Any...

    Variable Speed Opinions...

Well now that you bring it up, I'm only putting a 1.5HP motor/pump because that's what was there before. Do you think that's too much power for my 26,000 gallon pool?

    Variable Speed Opinions...

Thanks for the input. I checked my electric bill and our rates are .10kwh. We don't have a spa or a waterfall. I don't think a VS would make sense for us. A good 1.5HP 2-speed will do just fine and will be much cheaper in the long run. Unless my utility rates double sometime soon! Thanks...

    Variable Speed Opinions...

Hi all, my local utility company here in AZ is offering a $200 rebate on the variable speed pumps/motors. Mine needs replacing soon and I was wondering what everyone's opinion on these pumps were. Are they worth the money? After the rebate, pump/motor, and install, I'm looking at about $1,000...

    Fact checking the pool store...

Thanks for the quick reply and I just finished reading "How to chlorinate your pool" in the Pool School. I can see how continually adding shock could create an issue with the CYA's. Liquid chlorine it is! Thanks Robbie!

    Fact checking the pool store...

Hi All. I just want to say what a great site I think this is. I've already learned so much just by reading all the different threads. First off, my pool looks fantastic. Crystal blue. The "Guy" at the pool store told me that I should be adding a gallon of liquid chlorine to my pool weekly...

    No Suction In Main Drain

Thanks Dave! I'll give that a try tonight. I don't have a vac plate but should probably get one.

    No Suction In Main Drain

Correct, the Jandy controls the flow for the cleaner, the skimmer, and I would assume the main drain. I've played with it in every which way but cannot get any flow from the main drain. Is the second hole in skimmer connected to the main drain? Thanks so much for your input.

    No Suction In Main Drain

I'm pretty sure that hole is not plugged. I'll check again but I believe that was just the way the pic turned out as it was getting dark. The automatic pool cleaner plugs into the pool a few feet away from the skimmer, maybe a foot below the surface of the water on the wall. I think your...

    No Suction In Main Drain

Ok, I have a bit more information now. I've included the pool specs that I know in my signature and have attached a few pictures. There is definitely no labels on the plumbing but there are 2 holes in the skimmer. I've attached a picture of that as well. Let me know what you think. As...

    No Suction In Main Drain

Great question, I'll check when I get home and I'll also post a few pics. There are no labels on the plumbing at all. The only label is on the motor.

    No Suction In Main Drain

Hi All! I'm not only a newbie to the forum but also a newbie to taking care of a pool. The wife and I just bought an older home and it has a pool with what looks to be older equipment. Ok, here's the deal. When I purchased the home there was no drain cover in the deep end. I bought a new...
