He said his pressure fluctuates from 0-15 psi which tells me hes got something in the line the pump is trying to deal with.

Adding a "to waste/drain" to plumbing SOLVED

Re: Adding a "to waste/drain" to plumbing I dont like the idea of using pressure to waste water out of the filter. Sure the drain will remove water just before its filtered within the hopper but how does the filter deal with negitive pressure and still return some water to the pool? You have...

    Pump Losing Pressure

Well baring a fault pump low water pressure has always been for me gunk in the system. Either at the pool strainer return or the pump strainer basket or the pump impellers. Did you bleed the air out of your filter? Do you have leak(s) in your plumbing excessive dripping? I replaced my...

    leaking threaded connections

My way of plumbing which hasnt leaked yet for 15 years is to lightly sand the areas to be connected by glue use primer than glue one both pieces so every area has primer and glue. Hold the two pipes together for two minutes tight. Dont try to glue everything at once. Take your time, one area...

Adding a "to waste/drain" to plumbing SOLVED

Re: Adding a "to waste/drain" to plumbing How do you waste/drain the water? Through the filter drain plug? That will work but you will have to refill the filter and bleed off air. You will also filter water you plan to drain.

    Looking for a timer

Why not do it right and install the correct mechanical timer? For about $100 an electrician will put one in and its good for the life of the pool plus you wont burn down your house. Pool=lots of water bad electrical job+water=danger!

Adding a "to waste/drain" to plumbing SOLVED

Re: Adding a "to waste/drain" to plumbing Are you opening the drain plug while the pump is on? Another way to do it would be to make your own multiport valve. If you cut into line after the pump prior to the filter with a T junction put a on/off valve going to the filter and to a open plug...

    Pump run time question

I run mine prior to using the pool (to clean any leaves) and at night when I use shock/chlorine as im told its good to circulate water while using chemicals so they dont sit and eat your pool. I personally dont ever leave it on 24/7 unless im cleaning algae/massive dirt. I get very good...

When to backwash sand filter if pressure never goes up?

Well I had a problem were a blockage/air caused my pressure to decrease thus masking my need to backwash when normally the pressure gauge would be sky high. I tested my theory by opening the drain to my filter just to check color which was green. You lose very little in a check process. If...

Can air go from the filter to the pump strainer?

Whoa thanks for all the input. I cut out the pool to strainer plumbing it was 15 years old anyway, in the off chance I checked the impeller for the hayward pump through the small inlet hole in the strainer. VOILA! the impeller was clogged with dog hair and bamboo Crud. So I removed the...

    NEW Pump and Filter

I just purchased a Hayward DE pro series filter. For me after having cartridges (two different models) DE is the way to go. DE systems filter much more than both sand and cartridge. In my opinion the cartridge system is money foolishly wasted. The cartridges are way to expensive and only...

Can air go from the filter to the pump strainer?

I seemed to get all the extra air in my strainer when I opened the strainer to clean it out. The O ring seems ok no cracks or problems with it I use spa lube sold by a pool company to lube it. One never knows the exact amount of torque to use on the glass top lid I generally tighten by hand...

What I want to know is can air go from the filter to the pump strainer (glass house). It would seem that when even off the plumbing has water in it constantly. Ive got alot of air in my pump strainer and im trying to track it down with no luck so far. Can air get into the underground line? I...
