    Yellowish Stains on DiamondBrite Plaster

Problem Solved!! I think I must have had Algae Bloom. I tried the trick with my chlorine pucks and it cleared out a stained spot, so I added a bunch more (5 in total in my 7500 gal pool - too much?). And it's starting to remove all the stains as I move them around and do a bit of scrubbing. It's...

    Yellowish Stains on DiamondBrite Plaster

Thank you! - I'll test it out today. I did see you can buy ascorbic acid for Pools on Amazon, so if it works I guess I could get some - or just buy a bunch of tablets and hold them against the stains

    Yellowish Stains on DiamondBrite Plaster

So grind down some vit c and apply it while stain is wet? I'd need to empty the pool of course. Why not use an acid wash?

    Yellowish Stains on DiamondBrite Plaster

I have recently developed some stains on the surface of my pool finish. There are quite a few and brushing rigorously doesn't get rid of them. I'm worried that a product I added last week called 'Sparkel Conquest' may be the culprit as it's mainly along the edge where I had poured in the product...

Best Paint for Pool coping and surrounding painted concrete patio

I did find a product with good reviews that is a 2-part epoxy resin that may do the trick and isn't very expensive either: EpoDex based in Germany EPODEX | 2-Part Epoxy Resin | Directly from the Manufacturer ANyone out there have experience using it?

Best Paint for Pool coping and surrounding painted concrete patio

I appreciate the advice, but sadly, I don't think removal and staining is in the books :-(

Best Paint for Pool coping and surrounding painted concrete patio

The paint on my concrete coping and the concrete patio surrounding it has started to peel. Any suggestions for a good paint to use? I was reading about epoxy paint and it's benefits, then 1-part versus 2-part. I live in a hot & humid area (in Honduras, C.A.) so the paint will take a beating as...

How often should I completely replace water

I have been operating my pool for a year now and was wondering if I should completely drain and refill it sometime? The chemical levels are good and it's clean, but just curious how long it should be left before replacing all the water

Covering Pool for 5 months over the summer

I found some test strips and checked them against my more rigid chemical test and they agreed. So yes, I can have him use the test strip and add acid or Soda Ash as needed. Thanks so much for your comments!

Covering Pool for 5 months over the summer

I doubt it - he's pretty simple. But I can see if I can teach him in a day :-) What's downside of low pH on the pool. Will it affect my DiamondBrite?

Covering Pool for 5 months over the summer

I will be leaving our home in Honduras for the summer and will cover the pool while away. Although we normally use a SWG, while we're gone I'm going to turn off the SWG and have our gardener keep it stocked with chlorine pellets in a floater. I will run the pump for an hour or two each day to...

    Paint for pool deck

We have an unpainted concrete pool deck with a rough surface finish. The coping was hand-built by our contractor here on-site and has a smooth finish, but some of the surface has started to flake off a bit. He used a cement-lime mix over the coping so it would be a lighter color. I'm not happy...

Can I Shock my new Diamond Brite pool?

I wish they gave better info. But the good news is I bought 2 more bottles at a different location and after adding them, I finally got a reading of 2 ppm, which I think is a good one for 1st 30 days.

Can I Shock my new Diamond Brite pool?

Label shows 2.5 - 5% sodium hydroclorite. I've used 4 gallons already so if it should raise by 7.4 ppm somethings wrong. Maybe as you said the bleach is old?

Can I Shock my new Diamond Brite pool?

Thanks for your response. I did read that start-up guide. The problem is where I'm located in Honduras there is no local pool store. In a week I will be in a bigger city and able to get some CYA and some Calcium Hypochlorite 70% which is what the people who applied the Diamond Brite suggested. I...

Can I Shock my new Diamond Brite pool?

My pool is finally finished as of a week, using Diamond Brite for interior finish. I've been following all the start up procedures and testing every day. My pH & ALK are OK but chlorine is 0 I used 4 gallons of household bleach and it made no difference. My 'advisor' says I need to Shock it, but...

    Swimming pool care while absent

OK, option #2 I'll ignore. Option 1 + 3 seem viable then - leave it full, cover it with a solid tarp, turn off pump & swg and have gardener add chlorine every week. I wouldn't trust him to maintain the pump & swg while we're gone. If there's a soupy mess when we return (sigh), I will drain and...

    Swimming pool care while absent

From June to Oct and Dec to Jan we are often away. Those are hot and/or very wet months here in Trujillo. I thought while absent I would turn off the pump & SWG to save costs, but also to avoid any issues while we’re away. I have some questions maybe the group could help with: 1. We have a...

Pool Math App with BLUE WORKS SWG

I'm just setting up Pool Math to work with my new pool, which is close to being finished. I have a Blue Works BLSC20 SWG (15,000 Gallon). There is no selection for that make. I thought I should use the Hayward AquaRite T-3 option, but it set 24 hour output as 0.53. BlueWorks says the generator...

Lights should be wired in series or parallel?

Thanks Jim! Makes total sense now I know the answer! :-) And the watt output from my transformer is big enough for the 2 lights combined. I was reading that you don't need a GFCI for anything less than 15V so was not going to have one on the lights. On the pool pump & SWG I've installed a surge...

Lights should be wired in series or parallel?

I have two 12v LED lights I am installing. Should they be wired in series or parallel to the 12v transformer? Since I have 2 47W LED lights, and a 120W transformer, I'm thinking it should be in parallel so current is cut across the 2 LEDs

Pipe Joint Compound or Silicon tape?

I have some PVC pipe joint compound (Plasto-Joint Stick), and silicon tape. I'm leaning towards the pipe joint compound. Any thoughts by anyone as to which might cause fewer issues, or would both be just as good?
