    Shock/Tingle getting into/out of pool

My issue was a Neutral to Ground issue. Called my power company, they came out today, and repaired the Neutral line. Now the pool is back to normal! He said I was the only person to call about electrified pool that actually had one (e.g. not static from a composite deck etc).

ELECTRICITY in the water! What could be causing it - how to stop it?

So, whoever called Neutral to Ground was spot on! National Grid came out - and sure enough, the Nuetral wire to my house was practically broken. He repaired/replaced it, and now there is no more electrification in the pool! Thank you so much for giving me the idea to call the power company!

ELECTRICITY in the water! What could be causing it - how to stop it?

With both breakers off for most of the morning, I am still getting shocked - so I have called my power company, and they are going to send someone. Will update this thread when they leave.

ELECTRICITY in the water! What could be causing it - how to stop it?

Here is the current pump, the the ground wire that is there. I remember on the old pump, the ground wire was bolted in where I show the arrow pointing. Looks like these WILL reach the area I have an arrow pointed to. Does anyone offhand know the size of bolt I would need? Would like to hook...

ELECTRICITY in the water! What could be causing it - how to stop it?

Wow - I must have posted these years ago! By a bond wire, do you mean the number 8 solid ground wire that gets attached to the pump? If so, the wire is still there, but not hooked up. I guess this will be the first thing I get to. It was hooked up on the old pump, but then things moved, and it...

ELECTRICITY in the water! What could be causing it - how to stop it?

Thank you for the idea - but no - good ol' subdivision living. Is there any combination of pool chemicals that can cause electrification to occur? I know my pool guy recently dumped in some baking soda to help the PH balance. Just curious if there is any combination of random things that could...

ELECTRICITY in the water! What could be causing it - how to stop it?

My pool water has somehow become electrified! My daughter started dipping her feet while holding onto the metal handrail, and was complaining of feeling a shock run through her. Sure enough, I tested my wetting my hands, putting one hand in the pool, and holding onto the handrail. Felt like when...

Heat Pump VS Gas Heater - What to get?

Any recommendations on a NG heater? Something sturdy, appropriate for the size of the pool, and can handle itself if the water isn't perfect all the time?

Heat Pump VS Gas Heater - What to get?

Hey all - I have an old pool heater that ended up breaking and leaking. As you can see in the picture, it is now out of the loop (literally). The pool is 18 x 34 (if I recall correctly), roughly 20k gallons. I have heard people talking about heat pumps, but I don't know what the right...

Pool Heater Recommendations - Must handle high Chlorine!

"Low pH eats through copper. " - so I will have to keep an eye on PH. But if I forget, would it be best to put a bypass around the heater? So during the warm summer months, there is less of a chance to contaminate the heater with low ph water?

Pool Heater Recommendations - Must handle high Chlorine!

Hey all - my old pool heater (which was pretty old) finally had the chlorine eat through the copper. I run pretty high chlorine levels - I have an auto chlorinator. Is there a pool heater that anyone would recommend that can handle higher chlorine levels, or Ph our of balance if I am remiss in...

"Periscope" method used on water returns for closing - makes me nervous - need help!

"Periscope" method used on water returns for closing - makes me nervous - need help! Hey all - I had a new pool guy close my pool this year. Something made me a little nervous. He used what he called periscopes on the water returns. I don't know if this is a common term - so I will explain...

Winterization FAIL - No water shooting from Jet - Need ideas!

Hah - well good news. The plug WAS in the pipe - just WAY inside. I was able to JUST reach the screw with my fingers and undo it and pull it out. Saw all the glorious air bubbles come out - which made me happy that there was no water in the line. PS - did I do any damage by running the pump...

Didn't think of that - but what is the next step should I find an obstruction?

Winterization FAIL - No water shooting from Jet - Need ideas!

Hey all. I hired a company to close my in ground pool last year. The water jets in the pool have screw in covers for the winter. It looks like on one of them - the guys must have had problems getting the screw-in cover on - so must have used a 'plug' in its place. I just took the safety...

Safety Cover - was it installed right?

Fort Wayne Pools is the company that this was bought from - I suppose.. that was the brochure I got before this was installed.

Safety Cover - was it installed right?

It should have been an option though. So I appreciate you pointing it out. Is the $1125 price I got high/low/average for the 'stock' cover I got?

Safety Cover - was it installed right?

Ok here is the estimate (which became the invoice). Circled in red is where it states 'concrete anchors'. Circled in green are the only two upgrades offered, which were upgrades to the material - not the shape. So I was never given the choice about the shape of the cover - and for $1125 (and...

Safety Cover - was it installed right?

A bunch of the holes look like that... some are ok.... so yes more than one. How can that be fixed?

Safety Cover - was it installed right?

Yes, my next step is to call the cover manufacturer. I haven't actually completed payment on this job either. I paid the $600 down payment - but not the rest. I just looked at the invoice too - says the mesh cover, concrete anchors - etc. Nothing about grass anchors. And no mention or offer...

Safety Cover - was it installed right?

Here are some more photos - one a close up of an anchor that is in the concrete - the other a Y split around the diving board (I asked to keep the diving board on) - and another shot of the in-soil anchor on the other end of the pool.
