    Durable pool floats?

I ran across these and they seem a lot like the old lounge chair on 2 styrofoam arms type that used to last forever. Any thoughts?

    Durable pool floats?

My wife is making our annual trip today to buy new floats and toys for the pool. We usually end up dropping a few hundred on these over each summer, and I would like to get away from that and buy some durable stuff that will last more than a season. I am particularly looking for some good...

    Retractable Awnings

We have decided to look into getting a retractable awning for our lower deck area this year and have just started the process of looking into them. I decided this would be a good place to start looking for information since you have all been so helpful in the past. We are looking at a 16'x10'...

First test results of the year

FC 12 CC 0 TC 12 pH 7.2 TA 50 CYA 40 All in all I am pretty satisfied with the winterizing last year. I had a lot of trouble during opening last year, but this year I think I started early enough to (hopefully) keep it under control. The water was clear when the cover came off but went...

    Bleach % Question

I too have found 8.25% bleach in the store today. Walmart great value brand of all things. Anyone have any info on why the sudden increase in yield? It reeks of bad information to me, but I am skeptical of most good news.

Pool looks like a green swamp

It is a tension wire type cover. Is there another kind for above ground pools? It is also solid, not mesh, and I would call this more than "some algae."

Pool looks like a green swamp

I wonder what I am doing wrong. My pool looks like a green swamp when I open it, and it is filled with frog eggs. It is covered all winter long but this has happened both years. I created a thread for you. Please don't threadjack. It is hard to help when we have to sort out who has what...

    Easiest startup ever

I had the pool store open the pool this year (I know now, but didn't then) just so I wouldn't have to mess with the cover, and because this was our first open, and I wasn't 100% sure about how to attach all the hoses. Well, that is pretty much all they did. They didn't even add water to it...

    Bleach Prices 2012

I just found this and it sounds like a good decent price for 10% @ $3.05 per gallon. Is that too high? I saw a coupon code for free shipping over $75. http://www.acehardwaresuperstore.com/44 ... 65095.html

    Pool Pollen

Ahhhhhhh. We are finally back to sparkly. I had forgotten how nice it was.

    algae or pollen problem

Add some DE to your filter by following the instructions at pool school. I had the exact same issue you describe and that cleared mine up in 2 days. Be sure to check the pressure as often as possible though. Mine went way high after a few hours and needed a backwash.

Green dust on bottom of pool

I ran my filter 24 hours a day all summer and still ended up with pollen. The skimmer sock helped. but it was the DE that finally cleared it up. Also, your pool is not sparkly. Sorry to break that to you. I went through the same stages when trying to see some improvement from day to day...

Green dust on bottom of pool

Yep. I fought it as if it were algae for 2 weeks and was about ready to throw in the towel. Then I read that some people who thought they had algae really had pollen. I started by trying a skimmer sock. My pool had been downright murky for a week or more with very little visibility. It took...

    Pool Pollen

Awesome. That is even better news. I cannot wait to get home and check the water today.

    Pool Pollen

Well, 2 days after adding the DE my pool made tremendous improvement. The water is a LOT clearer and I suspect will be clear in a day or two. I did have issues with decreased flow though. No doubt I added too much DE. I backwashed last night and that water was FILTHY.

    Pool Pollen

I just added DE to my sand filter last night for this same problem. I will let you know how it works out. The skimmer sock (pantyhose) did show some improvement, but not a lot.

What I thought was mustard algae

It has been a difficult month in my pool. I have kept up with BBB for the most part, but with almost 60 days of 100+ degrees, my pool has been eating chlorine like candy. I have been using at least 1 of the big jugs every day, sometimes more. Anyway, I kept up with it. Then we got some...

    Help deciding on size

Definitely get the bigger one. That $400 will be a small hit now but you will love it in the long run. That extra 2ft of width makes all the difference in the world. We just got an 18x38 this year and love it. We were used to swimming at a relative's house who has a 16X32 and ours feels HUGE...

102 degree heat and bleach useage

Alright now, I asked almost this exact same question a couple weeks ago and said I was thinking of raising my CYA (40) and you guys told me I didn't need to raise my CYA. I too am using 182oz bleach per day and temps have been over 100 for 20 days here.

General Cost of the BBB Method

My CC test numbers have been at 0 for 2 weeks. CYA is 60. Could it be the heat? Our temps have been in the mid 100s for the same 2 weeks.

General Cost of the BBB Method

OK point taken. Does it sound out of line for me to be using a gallon a day though? That is quite a bit higher than I was expecting to use, and really isn't nearly as cheap as I had expected. I am being use to use 6% bleach too, although it is usually walmarts great value brand.
  25. R

General Cost of the BBB Method

I disagree on the cost savings aspect. I am currently using a gallon a day in my pool, and while it is keeping things crystal clear and my test numbers look good, it is coming in at around $7-10 a week in bleach. I am wondering if I shouldn't raise my CYA to reduce the amount of bleach I am...

YAY! Water going in our Used Pool DIY. But, floor wrinkles??

Re: YAY! Water going in our Used Pool DIY. But, floor wrinkl I couldn't live with those. I'd have to drain/reline/refill. One trick I saw our installers use was to start the filling with most of the liner pulled up on the sides. They used the weight of the water filling it up to smooth out...

    AGP lights

I am ready to add some lights to my pool, and need some advice on which ones are best. I have been considering the Intex magnetic lights like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Intex-LED-Pool-Wa ... 619&sr=8-3 My only concern is whether it would work on a non-intex pool with metal sides. Any...

Old deck for 21', new pool is 24'- How to make the deck fit?

Re: Old deck for 21', new pool is 24'- How to make the deck You might be able to remove the decking from the frame and then build on an extension frame that will follow the contour of the pool.
