I'm so frustrated, and can we swim in this?

This probably isn't your problem, but one year we had trouble with a cloudy pool. It was, I think, a combo of algae and cleaning issues. Turns out, our vacuum hose had a slit in it and so it was leaking out unfiltered water back into the pool as we were vacuuming. A small amount, yes, but...

    Should I lower TA?

Thanks to you both. I haven't even tested for Calcium Hardness. Guess I better do that just in case. As long as CH is in range, I'll keep an eye on pH until it gets to 7.8 and then lower to 7.2 and aerate. Thanks again!

    Should I lower TA?

I have finally gotten to the point of passing the overnight FC test, and now am focusing on other readings. I've been aerating to bring ph up from 6.8 to now 7.4. My TA is 200. Should I worry about bringing the TA down with muriatic acid? It's my understanding that I don't need to worry...

Higher TA value might due to the pH upon circulation

Thanks for the replies. I am using only bleach (now for the last 5 days; started with Trichlor and Dichlor 8 days ago) for chlorine, and am now aerating, so hoping that pH will increase soon.

    TF100 Alkalinity test question

When doing the TA test, am I looking for the drop to turn red, or the whole sample to turn red. My drop turns red way before my sample does. Also, if the answer is the sample, it goes to a "hot pink" color after so many drops. TIA!

33ft AG Pool Cover nightmare stories

We constantly siphon off the water throughout the winter using a portion of an old garden hose. We have a huge round innertube in the middle that is tied in place (under the cover). This creates a moat of water and is easy of siphon. As for the wind, we battle that too, but sometimes use the...

Higher TA value might due to the pH upon circulation

I don't mean to hijack, but I have a question for your Richard320. You say the pH will most likely rise due to circulation with a TA level of 80. Could I ask you what a higher TA value (say, 150) might due to the pH upon circulation? That's my situation--low pH, high TA. Going to do more...

I know most of us do not like the pool store

I found the site because putting 11# of shock still did not get me a FC level. My preferred pool store was 15 min away, and trips there every time I need an answer was inconvenient. I don't agree (now) with the chemicals they push, however the people at the store I used were always extremely...

    Need advice: TA and Ph

Long story short, I just switched from Trichlor pucks and dichlor shock to BBB. Had tons of dirt and "scum" in bottom of pool at opening due to slight rip in winter cover. I've been battling holding FC since opening, and started using bleach Monday. Finally got my TF50 kit today (I know, I...
