    Runtime.

Is it ok for a person with a SWCG to run their system 24/7? Currently using the BBB method but I think next year I am going to install a salt system - right now my pump runs 24/7 and I have no timer.

Comparing my numbers after first bbb usage.

Ok, so I feel I am quickly becoming a pro at testing lol. PH was more like 7.6 TA was still at 150. At this point do I need to go buy muriatic acid and if so, where do I buy this stuff?

Comparing my numbers after first bbb usage.

I retested that as well about 5 mins ago - CYA is more like 50-60 I did a partial drain of the pool twice this week prior to getting my test kit after info from my local shop said my CYA is 150. Going to repeat the PH and total ALK test now and see what I come up with.

Comparing my numbers after first bbb usage.

I realized I made a mistake as well after seeing how we all seemed to be on different pages. Read the directions thoroughly and tested again with the 25ml water. 13x.0.2 = 2.6 FC 2x0.2 = .4 CC I think I did it right this time. Might I just add how valuable of a resource this place is..

Comparing my numbers after first bbb usage.

I used the 10ml sample and after two scoops of powder my test read 7.8. It took eight drops of the other chemical to bring it back to clear.

Comparing my numbers after first bbb usage.

I used the k2006 to get free chlorine it turned bright pink. After dropping in the R0871 and it took 8 drops to get to clear again. Maybe I am confused between total chlorine and combined chlorine?? Also I raised the ph and ta with baking soda/washing soda per the pool calc recommendation...

Comparing my numbers after first bbb usage.

I just tested my water today after adding all of my chemicals last night. Here is where I am now. Yesterday Today FC - 0 8 (I suppose since it was the brightest pink, how can you tell if its higher than this?) CC - 1 8 (seems really high) PH 7.0...

    First numbers need some help.

I have a question about adding bleach. Do you test daily/add daily with the pool calc?

    First numbers need some help.

The water looks great right now. Also looks like the pool calculator isn't that complicated after all. However, what's an acceptable level of Free Chlorine? On pool school it gives a wide range of numbers.

    First numbers need some help.

Ok. I tried using the pool calculator but it was a little confusing. Since my free chlorine was zero it didn't appear to really explain how much bleach to add.

    First numbers need some help.

Some of you may recall my last thread where I was anticipating my new Taylor 2006 kit. On the up side my CYA levels weren't nearly as high as the pool store's computer told me (150) and now I am ready to get my pool in check. Just a quick rundown - currently using two sticks of trichlor until...

Reducing CYA by draining my vinyl inground pool?

Not sure what RO is but I live in Columbus, Ohio. This is our first house/first pool so this is a learning experience for me.

Reducing CYA by draining my vinyl inground pool?

Thanks, that's what I am going to do, better safe than sorry I suppose. On the upside today I learned that a kink in your backwash hose creates one heck of a water balloon. My neighbor said it sounded like a gunshot..

Reducing CYA by draining my vinyl inground pool?

So I am reading the only way to reduce my CYA levels (150) is to remove water. So today I started pumping out the water from the pool and came inside to read a bit. I was going to remove all the water down to the shallow end then refill but got frightened when I read that removing too much...

New pool owner, pool store woes, want to start the BBB.

I replaced probably 10% of the water the best I could do. I ordered a longer backwash hose and plan to run it down the hill. Going to just drop my vac hose into the deep end/skimmer so I can pump as much out as possible. Again, I dont know if the cya level is off because of the testing or it...

New pool owner, pool store woes, want to start the BBB.

New pool owner 14x28 in ground shallow end is 3ft deep end around 6 ft. I have spent a ton of money on chemicals over the last few weeks trying to get my levels in order. A week after the pool opened I took my water in for testing - the cyanuric acid was 150 and all my numbers were somewhat...
