hey guys and gals, today a friend of mine was saying that he was going to replace his filtering sand with playground sand (from the depot). i know nothing about sand filters (i have a cartridges), and i was wondering if this was a bad idea... any thoughts? Thanks

i have a blue diamond robotic cleaner, and it will not regularly clean the bench seating in the shallow end (sometimes it gets up there), the two sets of steps in the shallow end, or the swim outs in the deep end. it does great every where else. it cleans our 18X36 pool in about an hour.

i have the blue diamond and love it. it cleans our 18x36 (3 ft shallow end to 7 ft deep end) gunite pool like a champ. this is our first year using it so i don't know about long term life span. there seem to be more places selling aquabot parts, so that is a real plus
