    Winterizing in the deep South?

So I could just pull the SWG out and store it for the winter at some point then. Can Clorox be substituted for chlorine? or is chlorine the better choice.

    Winterizing in the deep South?

I have a SWG on my pool. What if anything would you do differently if you were to keep the pool open and just run the pump on days when it is freezing? Right now I run the pump 24/7 and my SWG about 6 hours a day. From some reading I have done today it looks like I need to get a timer and just...

    Intex pump flow issues

I found the problem. It was clogged at the strainer at the pool lining. After the skimmer but before the pump. I should have known as I had to clean that once before but I didn't. I just happen to think about it today after I messed with the pump a bit and bam there it was. A big wad of hair and...

    Intex pump flow issues

I will get some when I get home from work but here is my last set. FC 2.5 CC 0 TC 2.5 PH 7.5 T/A 130 CH 400 CYA 70 At the time I added the recommended Clorox and Acid. I know the FC/CC/TC is a little low from this test and when I test tonight I expect it to be low again. We got a lot of...

    Intex pump flow issues

Hey all, I have been having a problem over the last couple of weeks with flow. I currently have a Krystal Clear Filter Pump 637R and Krystal Clear SWG CS8110. It started out that we had to change our first filter after about 10 days as we could not clean it enough to get flow. The next filter...

Never buy INTEX type A filter again

Hmm We had the original Intex filter for about 2 weeks and had to pull it and clean it everyday. We got the UNICEL Filter elemnt C - 4607 and it ran fine for a couple of days and then we had to pull it and clean it. Now about a week into this filter it won't clean. The filter itself is clean of...

    First Pool Numbers

Ok well the numbers look better today (not that they were all that bad) however my CYA went from 65 yesterday after we drained some water and refilled and today it's back up to between 85-90. Got my FC numbers up to 4 but my CC is now 0 and PH is back down to 7.8. T/A is still high at 175 but...

    First Pool Numbers

So it looks like I can bring the pH down with Borax but the pool calc doesn't give me a figure for that?
  12. E

    First Pool Numbers

Ok pool refilled and new numbers. FC 1 CC .5 TC 1.5 pH 8.2 T/A 250 CH 150 CYA 65 So the CYA is much better but the PH and TA are up. FC and CC are down. So I recalculated and added some more bleach to the pool (29oz on the calc) and will test again in a little bit.

Ok sig fixed, water drained and refilling now.

    First Pool Numbers

While that is going on, another question. The pool calc said that to go from 1.5 to 4 it would only take 24oz of Clorox to hit target. That doesn't seem like a lot in the scheme of things but is that correct? and to shock the pool my guess is that you have to do testing 2-3 times a day and...

    First Pool Numbers

Ok well I added some Clorox already but will drain some water out of the pool. I would have to send my buddy pics as he is in Florida :) Although I can brag about my clear pool while we play World of Tanks!

    First Pool Numbers

LOL thanks guys! We did run the SWG another 6 hours yesterday hoping that would help but guess it didn't. Next step is to drain some of the poll and refill? Maybe add more salt? Whats my next step? Ohh and I referred a buddy of mine to the site so he maybe providing you will more beer...

    First Pool Numbers

Ok FC is now 1.5 CC is now 1 I am using heaping spoonful (little blue spoon provided in kit) of R-0870 but not sure my heaping is heaping enough. I fill the spoon and make sure it's more then just full. Is that how it's done?

    First Pool Numbers

Thanks duraleigh! I will run the tests again in the morning (wore smack out right now) and post the results. If needed we can pull some water out. We put the water in on Saturday and Sunday of last weekend and we didn't get the SWG in and hooked up until Tuesday so maybe that delay caused us a...

Containing my SWG and Pump in a box

Thanks Doc, glad I'm not the only one that had the idea. I can see down here where it would get pretty hot in the box so I think I am going to go the Paver route and just use the box for storage and electrical hook up.

    First Pool Numbers

Good tip! I did this 3 times and all 3 I lost the dot right at 90. Also seems the water temp is 88 after having the thermometer in for a while.

    First Pool Numbers

The number could very well be from my lack of testing experience although I am trying to follow the directions as much to the letter as I can. I will try the CYA test again in a little bit and see if I get different results. It took me a few minutes after I mixed before I could do the test as I...

    First Pool Numbers

OK not sure if this came out right because the numbers look a bit skewed (and I'm a pool noob) but going to post them here for any and all advice. New INTEX 14ft Round above ground pool 42 inches deep. Using an SWG and a 637R pump. Started with about 60lbs of salt and ran the pump for 24...

Containing my SWG and Pump in a box

Thanks Jason, didn't think about that because up to this point they haven't really seemed to get hot. Guess I will get some pavers and lay out an area and then maybe cover it. Thanks for the post.

Containing my SWG and Pump in a box

Hey folks. Not sure if this is a good idea or not so wanted to see what the experts (or not) think of this idea. I have a nice plastic deck box that will fit both my SWG and Pump. I wanted to run PVC in place of the plastic tubes and add valves and drains to the system and I thought I could...

    Howdy from Louisiana

Hey all, We are new above ground pool owners and in a few years we hope to transition into an in ground pool. Lots of great information (my head is spinning just a bit). Right now we have really nothing super special although we did purchase a salt water pump to add to our system. The pool is...
