    Return PVC Ball Valve dripping/leaking

I have an older (2002?) vinyl pool with VS motor pump and Cartridge (Sta-Rite) filter unit, and Spears valves (PVC valves with a separable union). Three returns and shallow and deep skimmer with drain in the deep end, so six valves total. One of the return valves started slow dripping last year...

    My pool opening in pictures

So the unasked question from above is what camera are you using? How do you have this setup - is it a PC grabbing shots, or a self-contained unit, or a DVR in picture mode? Model and Make would be appreciated. Those pics look quite good and clear.

Old thread - I know. Wasky - I discovered this same thing you describe by experience and do this same thing exactly... Seems to work fine and it's quite easy! Choots

MY INGROUND SALTWATER POOL IS LOOKING LIKE A LAKE -- GREEEEN

Re: MY INGROUND SALTWATER POOL IS LOOKING LIKE A LAKE -- GRE Your results from 9/18 and 9/19 show CC values ending in an eighth of a ppm. Can you explain how you got this value? The test kit only has a resolution of half a ppm... Also, get that pump fixed. I had to replace my pump motor...

    Pool Pump and Heater timer

That's helpful info on the digital timers - thanks to both of you. Is there a similar version to the P1353 ME with only two circuits? I have only the heater and pool pump to control at present and I'm assuming that would be cheaper. Also, I have limited space, and I wonder will this...

    Pool Pump and Heater timer

Thanks Scott, I'll followup and let you know if I have further questions. Maybe I'll come back with a wiring diagram when I'm ready. Thanks, Choots

    Pool Pump and Heater timer

Thanks Scott. I've seen their digital models versus their analog clock timer models - are you aware of any difference in performance or reliability? Also, I've seen one with a heater circuit - is this necessary to protect the heater versus just using a simple on-off model? I can't believe how...

    Pool Pump and Heater timer

I've recently had a failure of my pool pump motor, and since we were to be travelling that week, I just wanted to get it replaced in a hurry. I ended up finding a $259 replacement that worked fine - I spent about 40 mins pulling the old one out and putting this one in and we're up and running...

Backswimmers get me out of trouble please!

We just went through a bout with them... I couldn't figure out what was wrong, because we read online that they like algae, but I try to keep the pool and or near the FC for our CYA level, but we realized that we hadn't swept the liner in several weeks, and there was some dirt and debris that...

    pool light gasket problems

+1 to ntrsandman's solution - glad your problems are solved Laff! When we bought our new house with pool last year, there was an Amerlite fixture that I replaced the gasket on and it would work for a couple weeks then go out. I'd play with the gasket and it would still go out in a couple...

    Funny Story

Now you just need to take a gallon or two of bleach over on your midnight run and get it to where it needs to be. That'll show 'em.

    Just have to laugh

Yep - that's it. I think they have a couple good guys in there, but they also have a couple young bucks in there that can't have any real experience in troubleshooting pool problems. The thing I keep thinking is that they can't help but know how CYA works and affects chlorine levels required...

    Questions about BBB

Just as an update, I added three pucks to the pool back in June and brought the CYA level to approx 47 which I'll leave there. I get pretty consistent FC levels that drop about 2-3 ppm on hot sunny days, so this is good enough. I use approx 40 oz of 12.5% bleach most days, but it's easy, and...

    Just have to laugh

Hi apwelb, which pool store was this (no names, but you could describe by location)?. I'm also in Apple Valley, and was at the Pool and Spa store in Burnsville west of the Target store on the north side of CR42 to get a part for my pool cleaner, and saw someone get pool stored the other day...

    Algae returning on liner

Sounds like you are doing the right things. This process can take a little patience. Once you've gone through it you'll have the experience and know what it takes. Keep chlorine on hand, keep shock level up there, vacuum regularly, do the OFCLT and you'll be done soon. Good luck! Choots

    Questions about BBB

Thanks Jason for all your responses. Regarding the chlorination in winter, I think that might be pretty tough to do with two to three feet of snow on the ground and a foot of ice in the pool. I can see doing that after snow melts, so that would probably help. Also, in line with your...

A big THANK YOU to my friends here at "Trouble Free"

Morgan, you are probably right, we have a spring loaded mesh cover. Since we opened so late it would've had plenty of time after snow melt to grow algae. I'd like to look into a solid cover, but it's not on the budget right now. Any idea what the cost range might be for an L-shaped 20x25'...

    Questions about BBB

Hi all, I started in on BBB late last year, but didn't really grasp everything then. My experience is much better this year, but I wanted to gather a bunch of my questions together into one place. Sorry for the length of this thread. Background: - Last year took possession of house with...

A big THANK YOU to my friends here at "Trouble Free"

Well sounds like your co-worker got the right solution (pun intended) from the pool store - just because he used alot of chlorine doesn't mean it was wrong. Sounds like he had a swamp when he opened. Your experience might be the exception rather than the rule based on what I've read here. I...
