    IntelliTouch Screen Logic Camera options...?

Well, all I'd really like to use is a dome-style mounted camera. As long as it looks nice! Our clientele are on the much, much higher end, and the Panasonic cameras listed don't look very nice. The Canon cams I looked over yesterday were significantly superior in appearance. I've never had to...

    IntelliTouch Screen Logic Camera options...?

The models recommended in the manual for Panasonic are: BL-C1A BL-C111A BB-HCM311A BB-HCM331A KX-HCM110A BB-HCM381A www.panasonic.com You can punch in the model numbers in the upper right hand search, and it pulls the model right up, then you can check specs from there. I did notice the very...

    IntelliTouch Screen Logic Camera options...?

Hello, Does anyone have any suggestions on camera options for the IntelliTouch Screen Logic setup? In the manual, Pentair only mentions a handful of Panasonic models; all of which are not practical for my customer's yard. In addition, they just look cheap/unprofessional. The technicians and...

Pump goes "hmmmmmmm" (not the spinning "whrrrrrrrr")

No; not worth it =p Most motor repairs only last a year or so. If you want to spend $50 on a fix that isn't guaranteed to last very long at all (some as little as 2 weeks), then go for it. If you're usually at work, and don't have very much time to get out to it (like the majority of the...

Pump goes "hmmmmmmm" (not the spinning "whrrrrrrrr")

Replace the motor. Otherwise you can take apart the motor and clean the shaft with as best as you can by sanding it a bit, and/or WD40. It's not worth the headache, though. At all. Motors are cheap nowadays.

Air bubbeling into pool when pump is turned on

Keep in mind: Air in line= Suction side leak. This is prior to the impeller in your pump. Water leak= Pressure side leak. Only occurs after the pump's impeller. (i.e. - tank leak, pump seal leak, etc.) Make sure your pool vac hoses are filled with water before you connect...

Pump goes "hmmmmmmm" (not the spinning "whrrrrrrrr")

Another thing to check would be for shaft corrosion. It sounds like you might have had a pump seal leak into the shaft. Your water slinger (the rubber washer on the shaft) will only do so much before it starts travelling down the shaft; this causes calcium and rust build up. The shaft will...

INTELLIFLO OR 2 SPEED PUMP FOR TOTAL CONTROL AUTOPILOT?

Intelliflo 4x160 is probably your solution. The VF is just too complicated, and runs on it's own fancy little control panel. You need to make sure your control system is capable of handling numerous speeds if you want to alternate on a timer between speeds. Otherwise, you can still use it...

Hayward 6020 filter grids, replaced after 1 year?

A 2.5 hour turnover is just overkill. The pressure from the pump didn't necessarily break or crack the grids, but I'm sure it caused excessive wear. I firmly believe your builder was doing everything with the best intent on problem prevention. However, he has probably never looked at or been...

    Zodiac Baracuda X7 Quattro

I've never personally used it, but I sold about 5 or 6 units with my previous employer. All but one came back. Not sure why, seems like a great design, but they just didn't work. I even had Zodiac go out on site for a couple of the customers. They couldn't get it going. I'd hold off for...

    Robo-Kleen works for me!

Glad to hear it. I just hope it goes more than a few months for ya. Robotic cleaners in general (not ALL, but most) tend to fail within the first 4-6 months in my experience. I've watched countless units sent back to the manufacturer for repairs, those of which make the units run for another...

Hayward 6020 filter grids, replaced after 1 year?

A 2HP Northstar will be throwing out 140+ GPM into your 60sqft. filter. Too much! I don't think your builders did any math before they sized... That puts way too much wear on the grids. Nothing against your builder, I'm sure they did a fantastic job on everything else; this is actually a...

Hayward 6020 filter grids, replaced after 1 year?

A 60sqft D.E. filter shouldn't have a pump that exceeds 120GPM. Check the make/model of your pump. I'll check the pump curve if I don't know it off-hand, or someone else'll beat me to it. So, yes, it could potentially be over-sized. For example, a 2HP Pentair Whisperflo won't quite crank...

Hayward 6020 filter grids, replaced after 1 year?

It would take your chlorine level being kept excessively high, shock added through the skimmer, an over-sized pump... Your grids need a lot more stress than just a few extra backwashes to have them worn out already. That, or just very poor handling. I'm definitely NOT trying to discredit your...

Using Algaecide to Treat an Algae Bloom

Post split off from this topic by Moderator If your CYA isn't too high, hit it with a few pounds of 60%+ granular trichlor, otherwise liquid chlorine. Though I used to absolutely gear away from all copper algaecides (except for last resorts) and will probably get heck from everyone for...

Downsides of SWGs - fact or fiction?

My apologies, Waterbear. I did not gear my advice toward the few people who actually care to research anything (TFP users). I work with customers and clients around the L.A. area; fast paced, instant gratification lifestyles for the most part. So, all I ever deal with on swgs, day in and day...

Downsides of SWGs - fact or fiction?

Just about everything your builder has mentioned is pretty dang accurate. The main thing with salt systems is that you understand what you're getting: Nice feeling water; nothing more. From what I've found, keeping a TA of about 60-80 keeps the pH slighty more under control, but you're still...

    DE coming out of returns

D.E. out of the return lines indicates you've got something wrong with your grids, manifold, or possibly even that little stem pipe o-ring. Clean off your grids and do a thorough inspection for holes, tears, cracks, etc. Even small holes will cause a problem.

    Non Clorine Shock?

You're very right. A lot of the customers I help every day do not take the best care of their pool. L.A. and the surrounding areas (what I work with regularly) are full of people who work an average of 50-70 hour weeks, and spend all the other time taking kids to and from school/sports/etc...

    Non Clorine Shock?

Well, a non-chlorine shock shouldn't be costing you more than a chlorine shock. Calcium hypochlorite and sodium dichlor shocks are usually a little more expensive per pound than something like potassium monopersulfate. I suppose it just depends on where you shop, though. I'm not aware of any...

    Leslie's Sux

I work for Leslie's in SoCal. I hope this helps: 1. Shoes are a very common part when it comes to PVU and Nav., so in the middle of summer when vac repairs are at their highest, stores will run out. Even when kept very well stocked, there are times when we run out for a few days in the...
