LCD Screen on Pentair IntelliFlo gone bad

Jeff, I want to thank you for your helpful post. The LCD display on mine (Pentair 011018 model) went out about a week ago after three years of service. Took it apart and found exactly the same conditions you described, no corrosion or other issues - simply not enough compression to force the...

Pentair Intelliflo #011018 - Rotate the control panel?

My buddy is about to upgrade to a Pentair Intelliflo #011018. Problem is that, the location where the pump will mount, is very very tight (other water feature pumps, associated plumbing, etc) and, the way you would have to stand over the pump in order to operate the pump controller, the...

The Zodiac "Barracuda" MX8 Suction Side Cleaner

Craig, if your MX8 is climbing walls "too" well and surfacing too frequently, you could reduce the suction a bit (using the settings on the MX8 skimmer connector) or, if you have a variable-speed pump, you can accomplish the same, by reducing your pump RPM a bit.

    Pentair iPad / iPhone interface

Even with the iphone / ipad capability, there will always still be a market for the dedicated pentair wireless remotes. Although they are not "toss it into the pool" waterproof, they are still rugged enough to sit on a table poolside, get dropped, get left in direct sun, etc. I think that there...

The Zodiac "Barracuda" MX8 Suction Side Cleaner

You will be fine. My free-form pool is 21 x 40 and I have plenty of free length for the MX8 to access all areas.

Robbie, great pic, LOL. Let's see some "sparkling water" shots, too! Definitely going to do this with my pool in the next few weeks!

High Calcium Hardness - Well Water

I think that, as a first step, I may just do a full changeover of the water using my existing water supply.....As I mentioned, I have had no water "problems", other than seeing this high measurement for calcium hardness. Does a pool with high Calcium Hardness more easily have green algae...

High Calcium Hardness - Well Water

Thanks for posting that, Chem Geek. I am actually located in the Central Valley, about exactly where the "70" label appears. It is way, way drier where I am, vs the coastal / SF Bay areas. And yes, I do keep the pool uncovered, and have a large solar setup...

High Calcium Hardness - Well Water

Ah, I see. Makes sense. Here in Northern CA it is extremely dry from June through September (it rarely ever rains in those months). So yes we do get a lot of evaporation. It looks like a partial, perhaps full, water replacement is indeed on the agenda.

High Calcium Hardness - Well Water

Thanks Jason, But, wouldn't the "replacement" water coming straight from the well be essentially the same in hardness, as what is in there now?

"546" LED, Screw-In Bulbs on Ebay - Who has one?

Thanks jblauert, I would add a 12V AC transformer if necessary, but I do see that they also sell 120V versions of these, as well. As to the automation, I plan to go with an Easy Touch as soon as Pentair gets EasyTouch working with the Ipad/Iphone interface (said to be "soon") and agree that the...

High Calcium Hardness - Well Water

Hello, I did a search for this but didn't find anything like my situation... Just received my Taylor test kit (first "real" test kit I've had in 13 yrs of pool ownership) and tested my Calcium Hardness. It is very high, 460 ppm. Pool size is 38,500 gallons. I have a little bit of hard water...

"546" LED, Screw-In Bulbs on Ebay - Who has one?

I have my pool's one and only (120V, 500W) old-school American Products brand light fixture topside, for a bulb change. Was thinking about pulling the trigger on a Pentair Intellibrite, but, there is just no way I can justify $500-600 plus.... for a single light. Pentair sure is mighty proud...

    Pentair iPad / iPhone interface

Thanks Ed. I am going to wait to purchase an Easytouch until I know that folks have had success getting it working with the Iphone/Ipad interface. Hopefully by then it will be easy to know what revision levels everything must be, in order for it all to actually work with a minimum of swearing...

Isn't the other benefit of the *new* Easy Touch load center that it provides a supply for a chlorine generator?

    New Intelliflo VS pump.

Here are some numbers which may be of interest, of course, keep in mind that every pool setup is different, but anyways: 750 RPM - 104 Watts - 2 PSI of system pressure (as measured at the relief valve on top of my FNS Plus DE filter) 1,250 RPM - 180 Watts - 5 PSI (I run most of the day at this...

The Zodiac "Barracuda" MX8 Suction Side Cleaner

What I usually do is to just throw the MX8 and suction line into the pool, and turn on my water fill line, hold the hose on there for a minute to fill the line with water (and thereby push out all or most of the air), then plug it into my skimmer. You could do this with a garden hose as well...

Polaris 360 or ThePoolCleaner suction side?

I have been using pressure-side cleaners for the last 12 years. Currently a Letro Legend II and before that had a Polaris. (no booster pump, ever). Pool details in my sig, below. I just went "over to the suction side", LOL. I bought and installed a Zodiac Barracuda MX8 suction side cleaner...

Aqualink RS and Jandy ePump...Happy Together?...Eh....Maybe.

Re: Aqualink RS and Jandy ePump...Happy Together?...Eh....Ma RCY, my sentiments exactly. Fortunately for me, I didn't buy the Aqualink RS from my neighbor. Jandy/Zodiac's "screw the customer" business approach is why I decided to go with a Pentair Intelliflo pump instead, and will eventually...

    New Intelliflo VS pump.

Installed mine today as well, got a few schedules programmed so we'll see how it goes tomorrow. Mine came with the interface cable to connect to Intellitouch/Suntouch/etc. I didn't know it would be included.

The Zodiac "Barracuda" MX8 Suction Side Cleaner

Hi Craig, The MX8 adapter fitting which connects to the skimmer has a built -in relief valve with three settings, which can be used to regulate the flow of suction to the cleaner. As long as you are getting good flow from your skimmer now, the cleaner will work just fine, when attached to it...

The Zodiac "Barracuda" MX8 Suction Side Cleaner

DigitallyChallenged, the MX8 is a suction side cleaner, so, it connects to either a dedicated suction line connection @your pool wall for a suction side cleaner, if your pool has one or, connects inside the bottom of one of your skimmers. The MX8 comes with a well designed "universal" fitting to...

The Zodiac "Barracuda" MX8 Suction Side Cleaner

I would also add that the cleaner is doing a good job in terms of coverage / wandering about the entire pool. The MX8 unit itself is very light. My Letro Legend II pressure side sweep, is very heavy and I think that this is what tended to make it spend most of its time in the deep end.

    Goodbye VS-3050...

I decided to go with the Pentair 011018, since I plan to get an Intellitouch system, eventually. Since I am in CA, I ordered mine from ebay seller "poolgoodsdelivered" of Dallas, TX and it will be here by Friday. $849 w/free shipping via UPS and no tax.

Received mine today and can report the following, after having it running just the last few hours. This is my first suction-side cleaner, I am coming from using a pressure-side Letro Legend, with no booster pump. 1- Overall build quality seems to be very good. Plastic components on the...

Hayward EcostarVSP with AquaPlus Control - Reality

Nice Pool! Boy, that sure sounds dumb on Hayward/Goldline's part to not be able to program and utilize more than two speeds. The more I read about pool automation, the more it is apparent to me that the design approaches taken by these systems designers are almost universally lousy, they all...
