    First Time Opened

That's encouraging to hear. I also thought it may be the gasket on the strainer basket. I took it out and cleaned it, but didn't lube, I should try that. I did remove the drain plug, put some teflon tape on it and re-inserted. I will let you know after I re-do the gasket.

    First Time Opened

Yes this is an in ground pool. And yes, a good portion of the water does woosh and leaves the pump basket. The pool has been open for three days now, and I shut it off at night,m turn it back on in the morning, and backwash a couple of times during the day. The first couple of mornings when I...

    First Time Opened

I will check the plugs in the morning, but tonight when I shut off the pool, I heard a long and steady "whoosh" sound, like air or water running into the filter. Strange.

Got it on the air vent. The water level is high enough, maybe too high as my skimmer baskets sometime "float" in the skimmer since there is not enough suction to pull them down. I will re-check my plugs etc. and let you know.

    First Time Opened

So, this is the first time I wen ahead and opened my pool without paying the big bucks to do it. Most everything is working well, it's just that seem to be drawing a little air into the system (I have some bubbles visible in the pump pot and subsequently out the supply ports into the pool). I...

    Laars LX250 Gas Heater Problem

Well we checked for gas to the heater, we have it. I removed the gas valve, shook it a couple of times, blew it out and replaced it. Still no ignition. I assume that gas will not flow to the burners unless the glow bar lights up. Glow bar seems fine, but maybe it's bad. I would try to reset...

    Laars LX250 Gas Heater Problem

Do these things work on the principal of "no gas - no signal to the ignition - no ignition"? Meaning will the surface ignitor come on and glow if my heater is not getting enough gas. I just don't smell any gas when I try to fire it up, so I am wondering if my line has a problem. Called the...

    Laars LX250 Gas Heater Problem

OK. So we fire up the heater this year ( a couple of weeks ago), and it comes on, no problems. We run it for a few days then shut it down. So today I go out to fire it up - no go. Under normal running conditions, I start the heater, the fan come on, 30 seconds later the "HEATING" light...

New to Site - Cloudy Water

All clear here. Took a little longer than I thought it might, but we are in good shape. Now I just need to work on some stains and we are good. Hopefully my test kit will arrive today so I can check my CYA levels. On an unrelated note, we have always used the pool store chemicals to do our...

Things are looking up today, I can clearly see the bottom in the deep end! Now I can do more vacuuming, I can see what I am doing. It's pretty clean, just some organics on the bottom. The next step will be to clear up the stains. I did the vitamin C test on a small spot on a step, and it...

Is it OK to do a combo drain / fill? I read where you can drain (using a sump pump) while filling with a hose. I have concerns about dropping my level way down, then filling back up (partially because with the water pressure I have it would take forever to do). Today the pool is a little...

New to Site - Cloudy Water

OK. So I go to the pool store to get my water tested, the following results: TDS 1600 CYA 99 (They said it was more like 120, bot they always show 99) Tot Chl 8 F Chl 8 ph 7.6 Alk 195 Alk, a little high but no biggie. I brought up the high CYA number and they were not in the least...

New to Site - Cloudy Water

So is it possible to have a clear pool with a high Cya number? Probably a dumb question. I just know that, as I mentioned earlier, every single one of my pool store tests showed a Cya of 99, not a single bit of variation, not 85, 95, 98, nothing but 99. I am wondering if they even test that...

New to Site - Cloudy Water

Well this morning it looked a little better, not much. I finally got my chlorine up to around a 3.0 (via my small tester). I will take another water sample to the pool store later this morning to see what they show, and post those numbers.

Guys, that CYA number can't be right. I went back and looked at all my test reports over the last couple of years, probably 15 - 20 of them, and every one of them has a CYA of 99. Same number every time. That can't be right? Right?

Just located this forum, I will be here regularly. My problem, first off I have a liner pool (white), in-ground, lagoon shape, 30,000 gallons, sand filter, chlorine feeder (tabs), live in Oklahoma so it's kind of chill now. I just opened the pool a week ago, pool guys put some shock in (didn't...
