Solved the problem. Pentair makes a hose that fits around both.

The Hayward hose is 1 1/2" outside diameter. My cleaner is a Hayward Pool Vac Ultra. The pentair leaf trap is 1 1/2" outside diameter. The hayward hose is too big to fit inside the pentair connection, and too small to fit around the pentair connection.
