I have been trying that too, & nothing seems to heat the pool like it did the first summer I owned my house.

most effective way for solar cover to heat inground ppol

Hi guys, I have a 23,000'ish gallon in ground oval pool & recently replaced my solar cover this year with a brand new cover. I have had the cover on for about 4 weeks 24/7, & the water temp is still in the mid 70's. My friend also has a solar cover on his in ground pool, & his water temp is...

    Intelichlor ic40 swg

You can get a timer that can run 2 outputs at the same time. I have an intellichlor IC40, and recently installed a timer that will turn my pool pump and power center to the IC40 on and off at the same time. This way, you dont have to worry about the flow sensor in the cell working correctly or...

High filter pressure after plumbing in SW chlorinator

That seemed to do the trick. I took the gauge out, and it still read 38 psi once completely disconnected, so it was definitely faulty. I got a new gauge for $6, and now it is running around 8 psi. Thanks for all the help. I love this site!

High filter pressure after plumbing in SW chlorinator

Should it read 0 though when the pump is off? Because technically, it is a sealed system, so as long as there are no air leaks, it doesnt seem like the pressure should drop, because the whole system is still sealed and pressurized.

High filter pressure after plumbing in SW chlorinator

I didnt plug any of the returns. I drained the water slightly below the returns and skimmers for winter. The air pressure gauge does not drop to 0 when the pump is off; it only drops to about 40-41 psi. Im not sure how to post pics in my repsonse, so I attached a picture of the pad and...

High filter pressure after plumbing in SW chlorinator

I have a sand filter that ran at 28 psi all last summer when clean, and would increase to 32-33 psi when dirty and flow would essentially stop until I backwashed. Then it came back down to 28ish, and flow would be back to normal. During the off season, I plumbed in a saltwater chlorinator...

new pool owner with a foreclosure swamp

i am going to try floc once i get my CC down and pass the overnight FC test. theres 2 pool stores near me, and 1 carries Bioguard Power-floc, and the other is a branch of Ace hardware and they carry O-Ace-Sis Super Floc Out. I can find reviews on the bioguard floc, but i cant find any reviews...

new pool owner with a foreclosure swamp

yea, im still shocking so my FC level is going from 30 to 21 on some sunny days. I dont know for sure that im passing the overnight test, because I havent tested it properly. I just know that it is holding pretty steadily overnight, because I will test once the sun is almost down, add enough...

new pool owner with a foreclosure swamp

so if a pool should be kept around 3-5 ppm FC under normal conditions, and i am losing up to 9 ppm currently during the day, how do I keep the FC from dropping to 0 during the day? am i supposed to add enough bleach every morning to raise the FC to 13, because isnt this technically considered...

new pool owner with a foreclosure swamp

ill vaccuum and test the CC before floc-ing. i know the pressure building up means the filter is filtering, but given 3 weeks, and seeing no progress in the cloudiness actually clearing, i think i want to try the floc at least once. like i said, the filter can sit for at least 3 days without...

new pool owner with a foreclosure swamp

I rasied my FC level to 30, and have kept it there as consistently as possible for nearly 3 weeks now. The water is very milky, and looks to be a turqoise color, which I think is due to the color of the liner. However, the water does not seem to be clearing up. I have left the filter running...

new pool owner with a foreclosure swamp

i backwashed once yesterday given normal filtering. i also vacuumed again yesterday, which resulted in me having to backwash again. so should i raise it up to 28, since i am not sure if my CYA is at 60 or 70?

new pool owner with a foreclosure swamp

I havent noticed a difference in the color or any progess in the pool water since yesterday morning. the water is still a milky green color. currently, im keeping the FC level at 24, because my CYA level (i think) is 60. the lines for 60 and 70 on the CYA tube are close together, so it was...

new pool owner with a foreclosure swamp

I started shocking my pool Thursday night. I brought the FC level initially up to 18, and within a few hours, the green had already started to fade to a lighter shade. I kept it at 18 until Friday afternoon, when I noticed I had seen no more progress in the shade of green of the water, so then...

new pool owner with a foreclosure swamp

ive noticed that there are some discrepancies of shock level between the pool calculator (using the suggested goal level of TFP) and the chlorine/cya chart. for example, if cya is 40, the pool calc says shock level is 15 where the chart says its 16. ok, doesnt seem like a major difference...

new pool owner with a foreclosure swamp

ok, I think I may have solved the air leak and pressure problem with 1 fix. I replaced the o-ring on the skimmer pot lid of the pump, and suddenly, the air bubbles stopped, and the pressure was back at 25. Over about the course of an hour, the pressure rose to 30, so I am keeping my fingers...

new pool owner with a foreclosure swamp

yes, I havent played with it much, and I work out of town so I cant check again until Thursday night, but I think the pump stays primed and full of water if you turn the pump off. However, it does lose prime when you turn the filter to a different setting (backwash, rinse, etc.). And Jason, my...

Thanks for replying jason. I was hoping you would respond. We did not bleed the air out of the filter, how do you do that? I read on the front of the filter for initial startup, set it to backwash, and let it backwash for 2 minutes to remove any trash or particles inside, then switch it to...

new pool owner with a foreclosure swamp

Hi all. I recently bought a foreclosure that came with a pool that was left uncovered and not maintained since last pool season (at least). Needless to say, the pool is a swamp. I have been reading a lot on this site, and I have read everything in pool school, the article about turning your...
