If you are looking for CYA (stabilizer) most Walmarts and pool stores have it at 100% strength.

Your shock level is 20 - 24. Here is a link to the Chlorine / CYA Chart: pool-school/chlorine_cya_chart_shock It looks like around 490 oz of 6% bleach to bring it up to shock level.

For whath it is worth, I just did the same test tonight with a result of FC of 6.5 with CYA of 45 and had the "normal" results - not what you are having. I have never seen that even when my FC was 40 with a CYA of over 200.

Re: Desperately need advice. Green pool won't clear up! Your pH may be lower than the test can measure. You may wish to add more and test again after running the pump overnight.

You probably want to switch to liquid clorine so that CYA does not go higher. What is your CC?

I would be more concerned at this point with the CYA at 100 and using pucks as you are still increasing it. pool-school/chlorine_cya_chart_shock

Pour the bleach it slowly in fron of the return with the pump running - not in the skimmer.

I vote for an impact screwdriver like this one: http://www.harborfreight.com/impact-scr ... 37530.html I have used them on motorcycles and farm equipment with great success. PB Blaster helps too. The trick is to press it in VERY firmly into the screw head and give it a big hit with a 16 - 24...
