Custom PVC Pipe Adapter for Intex Pools

You and me both ! I waited until my family was going to be out of the house for a couple of hours plus I made sure I had a large piece of liner material on hand to make a patch in case I totally messed things up. Turned out to be dead easy. Just use the usual carpenter's rule of thumb -...

Custom PVC Pipe Adapter for Intex Pools

I have that same Hayward skimmer. Love it, now my intex sand filter flows water through the pool like a champ. Makes a big difference in the volume of water the pump can move. The down side, is that any floating water pistols, balls, un-popped water balloons, etc in the pool all end up in the...

Custom PVC Pipe Adapter for Intex Pools

The E950HG adapter is easy to clean up - I used a sheet of rough sandpaper laid flat on the sidewalk. Swipe the flat part back and forth a few times smooths off the bottom surface. The four little round tabs come off with a few swipes on the sandpaper. My first attempt at an assembly didn't...

Custom PVC Pipe Adapter for Intex Pools

Looks like the E950HG is an electrical conduit fitting. The manufacturer is Carlon. Plugging in the E950HG part number on the Home Depot website gives you a picture of a different fitting, without the lip. Looking at the manufacturer's product sheet, they have a large number of similar...

    Intex model 5667 sand filter

Once the system is set up and running, you will only rarely have to bleed air. There is a clear pastic top over the leaf basket so you can see if you have an air bubble. If you get a large air bubble that does not go away when the pump is running then you have may a restricted flow somewhere...

    Intex model 5667 sand filter

About a month ago, I replaced the stock Intex cartridge filter with the Intex sand filter. Haven't looked back. The pump much moves more water and the filter system "clearly" does a better job of filtering. Really nothing to it. When setting it up, take some time to get it located just...

    Robot cleaners for AGP...recommendations wanted

I swapped out the standard Intex pump/filter for the sand filter. So I have a stonger pump. I doubt that the stock pump would be strong enough to make "Dave" work.

    Robot cleaners for AGP...recommendations wanted

I have an Intex 14 foot by 42 inch Intex above ground pool. This morning, I pulled out the Intex add on skimmer, drained the pool a couple inches, added a Hayward through wall skimmer and plugged in a Hayward "Diver Dave" pool cleaner. Aquabug and Wanda Whale are same thing, a little...

Upgraded plumbing and thru-wall skimmer for Intex pool.

What sort of PVC fitting is that on the pump? I want to do pretty much what you have done, but I thought Intex pumps had non-standard fittings? Robert

Never buy INTEX type A filter again

The Intex filters can be washed and reused. I bought 4 type A filters last summer. When one got dirty, I used a garden hose with nozzle to hose it down really well, and put in the back of the line. Replaced the filter every weekend. All four are still in good shape.

    Best way to shade AGP?

Shade sails from Home Depot. In the garden supplies section. The ones I have are triangular - about 10' on a side. They are like a tightly woven mesh, that gives you about 75% shade, but lets wind and rain water through. Had one up all last summer, worked great and is still in good shape for...

Intex sand filter - fittings for backwash port

I have an Intex pool. I just replaced the paper filter type filter/pump with the smaller sand filter/pump combo. I'm puzzling over how to connect a long hose to the backwash port on the pump. I can buy 25 foot lengths of flexible backwash hose at Home Depot. But where do I get fittings that...
