Ok, so I cleaned filter and soaked overnight. Just put everything back together and added DE. I used the pool calculator to figure out how much CYA I should add. I am adding enought to bring the level to 30. Should I try to get the CYA higher because our pool gets full sun all day?

If I dont' have dishwasher detergeant, can I use filter cleaner and soak it in that all night?

Do I need to clean the filter before adding the CYA?

So once the CYA is in, I still need to bring the FC level up to 15 at night?

Update for today. Tested levels several times throughout the day, but need more chlorine so I only topped it off twice. CC levels have been around .5-1 today. I will bring the FC levels back up to 15 tonight and see how it holds.

I verified the chlorine level was 0 at the pool store and used the calculator to figure how much bleach to add. How do you verify that levels make it all the way to 15? Do you wait a few minutes and test after adding bleach?
