Thoughts on a solar powered pump?

Bump! The only option I've found to date is the Sun Ray system http://www.sunrayus.com/ but it's not easy to find prices. most of what I find are solar powered well pumps for remote locations.

    Heating in Arizona

You might be able to mount a solar heater on a patio cover for shade, making it dual use. Or on top of a tool shed if it's strong enough for the extra weight. It doesn't have to be on the roof. Just a place where it can get the best sun exposure. Seeing how the sun is so far south in the winter...

What does it cost to replaster?

GASP!!!!! Looks like it's going to be closing time! I don't have that kind of money and can't get wife to agree to that kind of outlay when she still wants to travel or buy rental property. Not to mention she's already ****** that I spend a few hours a month working on it to keep it...

    Re-pipe in AZ sun

Hi all, I noticed a couple small leaks in the seams of my pipes going from the pump to the filter. It's a 2" line there, and 1.5" everywhere else, and it all looks a little weathered, like the sun gave it a nice UV treatment. I'm betting it's a few years old. My question is about PVC pipes...

What does it cost to replaster?

Thanks. I haven't had the time to sit down and do the math to figure out my surface footage. It's a free form pool so I have 3 different semicircles and the avg depth to figure out. I'm betting I'm 10-11 ft deep in the deep end. All I know is the label in the add-on room says 20x30 Blue Haven...

Thoughts on a solar powered pump?

A whole house system ROI is something around 5-7 years w/ subsidies, around 10 w/o. I have a municipal electric utility so they don't have a time-of use plan, or efficient pump rebates that I know of. I did find a DC pump but you need 4-6 panels to run it, plus the batteries and...

Thoughts on a solar powered pump?

Hi all, I have a question. I see lots of good info on pumping at low speed, and how it's filtered better and more efficiant. seeing how this needs less power, and I live in the valley of the sun (Phoenix, AZ) what's the consensus on a solar powered filtering pump, and maybe a booster just for...

What does it cost to replaster?

I don't know the exact footage. There's a label that's from a service company that said it's a 30x20 and it's a diving pool. but it's not square, and has no corners. I'm thinking I would just fix what I have. I have to save up for it so I'm looking to know a balpark figure. I work during the...

What does it cost to replaster?

What does it cost to replaster? I was scrubbing my steps this weekend and some plaster chipped off. I think my pool is 40 years or so old and there are alot of cracks. I don't think it's leaking though. level seems good and is steady.

    Custom parts? Cost?

Can't be that clear, that's the camera strap! The water level is 4"-6" inches above the basket line (top ridge) You know, the more I think about it, I might go with that deep basket and and maybe even that floating weir mentioned before. I again have more small leaves in my pump...

Frozen pool - should I be concerned?

Glad i live in Phoenix! I'd wrap those pipes if they're still good and you expect more cold weather. And like the others said, run the pump at night.

    Custom parts? Cost?

Sorry I'm not home to take more pictures. But I edited the one I posted before. [attachment=0:2pmoocpn]skimmer-lbl.JPG[/attachment:2pmoocpn] The hole "a foot from the skimmer" is about a foot below the skimmer in the pool. It's another inlet that I assume as carl said, might be for a cleaner...

Here's the pics I posted in the pumping station. and some back-info is there too. help-newbie-new-pool-owner-odball-skimmer-missing-parts-t28623.html Currently the hole to the left of the skimmer (the bottom of the image goes to the pool) goes to the main drain. I can't use the main drain...

HELP! Newbie-new pool owner-odball skimmer, missing parts?

Well that's that! I left a photo with the staff at the local pool supply and they did some asking around. Turns out I have the predecessor to current American Products model. Nothing is available for it. As they say across the pond, bollix! I will have to make a custom part to block off the...

    Possible leak

I'd agree w/ Dave. I'm no pool expert, but the mechanics of it all make sense. Set your focus on the exposed pipes (above ground to start) that are before the pump. You might be able to see where the leak is using a food coloring dropper while running on low since that's when it's most evident.

HELP! Newbie-new pool owner-odball skimmer, missing parts?

Re: Newbie-new pool owner-odball skimmer, missing parts? The reason for my concern (and this bump) is I need to know what hardware I need to make this a better system then it is right now. Other then a complete refurb that is. I know this isn't a straightforward/typical issue, but I do really...
