    Is the pool guy correct?

Ok - I way overshot my chlorine, but passed the OCLT- i had a FC of 33.5 last PM and the same at 5 AM, no CC to speak of.

    Is the pool guy correct?

This morning I woke up and realized I didn't divide the FC number by 2 when I tested last night, so I only got to 16 PPM. This am the FC is at 14 FC, with a CC of 1.5. I'll try again this evening and will get the FC above 24.

Well I overshot - it's sundown here in Phx and I'm at 32 FC 16 FC...assume higher is better than lower. We'll see in the am.

Thanks all - I'll switch to the Lowe's brand (Kem Tek) Chloronating Liquid - 10%.

    Is the pool guy correct?

Ok - I'm back to revive this thread of mine. Apologies for not posting after all the support, but I had life get in the way of working this pool issue. I've been adding chemicals, sweeping the pool and testing today and I think I'm ready to begin SLAMing. I've been using the Pool Math app to...

    Is the pool guy correct?

Pool drained and refilled, approx 3lbs of CYA in sock in front of a return. Pool CH is 400 and Salt is 3200.

    Is the pool guy correct?

Ok - drain in progress. Will check back in later this week after pool is refilled, i've added CYA, balanced the pH and re-checked all my numbers. Appreciate the assistance!!!!

    Is the pool guy correct?

I'm draining the pool now - my thinking is that i will need to get the CYA up before I SLAM, and i'd prefer to not have to re-add the CYA again when I drain (due to Salt levels) later. Should I SLAM before draining? The 2017 water report for my area shows Sodium (no NaCl readings) ranges from...

CH from the hose (fill) is 150ppm. I rechecked the salt and I calculated wrong earlier - it's 1200ppm from the faucet. Pictures: Pool 10 is last evening, dog for scale. Pool 11 is today a 1PM.

    Is the pool guy correct?

Thanks all - I'll focus on the steps that duraleigh suggests - I will continue to vacuum up the dirt and drain out the pool with a pump to get down to around 50%. I'll check and post the CH of the fill water here shortly. mknauss, I test my salinity with the 1766 kit.

    Is the pool guy correct?

Ok here's the results - I did input these into my Pool Math app and am happy to share if that's preferred. FC: 6.5 CC: 0 pH: 7.2 TA: 60 CH: 600 CYA: 20 (really <20) Salt: 5600 Also wanted to mention that I last refreshed my kit chems in Fall 2018. I have CYA ready to add, but wondering if I...

    Is the pool guy correct?

Never deep cleaned the filter - it's brand new as of Sept 2018. Never added anything like that (Floc or clarifiers) - I stick to clorox, muriatic, cya, occasional chlorine pucks and beer if its a particularly fun weekend.

    Is the pool guy correct?

Ok - I'll get some pool results in about an hour. I just downloaded the pool math app so there's no data there. But I'll admit I'm a recovering pool ignoramus as I wholly buy into the TFP way but for the last few years have gotten lazy with the pool. I went and got a manual pool vacuum setup...

    Is the pool guy correct?

ok - will try the overnight tests tonight (removing MPV might require watching a few youtube videos first). I left the cleaner running all night with the pump at 3000 rpm. This am the cleaner was completely still, the PSI was at 19 (maybe closer to 20) PSI and the pump basket looked to be about...

Ok - thanks for the continued support. I really appreciate it. Pump set at 3000rpm PSI 12 4.7 seconds for one rotation of pool cleaner at 15 mins PSI 14 6 secs at 30 mins PSI 16 7.5 secs

    Is the pool guy correct?

Well the pump is doing its job, right? The filter is on recirculate which I believe means its being bypassed. If I turn it back to clean it'll go back to 20 mins or so of suction through the cleaner and then start slowing down.

    Is the pool guy correct?

Thanks all for the replies. I turned the pump on ~2700 rpm and switched the filter to recirculate and left it for the day. Just got home and its still happily running around the pool. I tried to deadhead the pump but I have a 3 way valve that doesn't let me close the opening towards the pump...

    Is the pool guy correct?

And I'll attempt the advanced move tonight - I've never twisted the valve to occlude the line going towards the pump as I didn't think that was possible to do. I'm still not able to connect how the chemistry is causing a flow/suction issue to the cleaner - can I get a "explain it to me like I'm...
