Appears its not air but the pump running faster than the water can get to it now that the level is quite low. Fitted a valve on the out hose to restrict flow and put the pump on low revs: seems to have done the trick. Sweet spot between water flowing to sump and pumping speed.

yes, I'm sure. Whilst they dont actually publish the figures (which is probably why people buy it), they gave them to me on the phone. Its also louder at 2800rpm than the single speed.

Thanks, it's just that the sand is already down there next to the pool having landed there when it rained last week :roll: , the gravel will have to be manhandled in buckets down to the pool right in the middle of mortaring day.
