    backflow prevention valve

Thanks for the info, everyone! One other question...does it matter where on the line it's installed? Should it be closer to pool, or closer to water source? Or in the middle?

    backflow prevention valve

Hey TFP, I had an automatic water filler installed, and had a different guy run the water line for me a few months ago. He put in 2 manual valves, one right before the pool and one on the other end near the water supply. This is nice because I can seal it off from either end. But, he did not...

    PVC to auto-fill cannister

Hi everyone, I'm digging a trench to run a line from my water supply to the auto-fill canister in the pool deck. Is there a particular type of piping I should use?

    Backflow prevention for auto leveler

I just remodeled my pool and added a water auto-leveler, which I need to now connect to a water line. I read in an old post that I need to use a backflow prevention device, such as this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00G5HFEN0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1 My pool is somewhat...

    leave cover off all winter?

I'm in the San Fransisco bay area, California. I have a lot of trees around my pool, and tons of debris ends up on top of the cover, which then turns into nasty dark water and algae on top of the cover. Leaves also still get under the cover and into the pool. Whenever I take off the cover to...

    Hello from California!

alright I try it out! I live in the East bay Area, about 30 minutes outside of San Fransisco on the other side of the bridge & hill. We have hot summers, with many days hitting triple digits. My pool doesn't have a heater (just a solar cover) and the water is quite nice :)

    Hello from California!

My pump has a spout where I can connect a hose...if I run a hose with a sprinkler attachment spraying the water back into the pool, do you think that would be an adequate way of aerating the water?

    Hello from California!

FC: 7.5 CC: 0.5 TA: 90 CYA: 40 PH - lower than 7. Using the Taylor 2006 it's still coming up very yellow. I am awaiting the new reagents, just in case mine are bad and giving false results.

    Hello from California!

I thought 20 Mule Team Borax would raise PH and have little effect on TA, but the pool calculator says adding 64oz will raise my ph by .32 and my TA by 6.2. What is the best way to raise my PH?

    Hello from California!

Thank you! yeah, it just poofs away. The whole reason I waited to put in my brand new filters was because I wanted the old ones to get all that stuff out first. Oh well. I added two pounds of cal-hypo and will leave pump running over night. Tomorrow I’ll look for new chlorine. Cheers!

    Hello from California!

Thank you for the quick replies! So I just took off the cover, and there are dark piles of a dusty substance scattered all over the bottom of the pool (see photo). Is that algae forming? Dead Algae? Some byproduct from the pool store chemicals I had been using? I had the same problem earlier...

    Hello from California!

Thanks for the notes, everybody! Yes, I have the FAS-DPD kit . I tested for chlorine at about 11am today, and it was 2.5. So down about 1.1 from yesterday morning. I picked up some Clorox regular bleach 2 with cloromax today, it says 6% Sodium Hypochlorite and 5.7% active chlorine. They...

    Hello from California!

Hi Everybody! My wife and I bought a home with an in-ground vinyl pool last summer. I've never owned a pool before and my wife thought we should just hire a company to take care of it for us. But, this is our "forever" home and I wanted to become an expert at managing our pool myself, so we'd...
