    Letting a fiberglass pool freeze

Stuart, I included the first picture so folks could see the skimmer type and what it looks like (as it might pertain to freezing). I took the picture during construction. The second and third show the type of concrete deck and the enclosed mechanical room, again because it might relate to how...

    Letting a fiberglass pool freeze

Dave, I had the same reservations too :), but decided to give it a try. The guys I bought from (http://www.poolpatioenclosures.com) said they've done installations in NY, Minnesota, Kentucky, North Dakota and Tennessee, and all have had great success. The screen is really strong. One of the...

    Letting a fiberglass pool freeze

I had a Viking Lake Shore fiberglass pool installed three years ago and every winter I've utilized a freeze protection circuit that runs the filter pump anytime the ambient air temperature goes lower than 35 degrees Fahrenheit. The temperature here (northern Arkansas) can stay below freezing...

    SWG making too much Chlorine

Yes, but I've been avoiding that if there is a better way. Right now, the pump and SWG are using common wiring from the CB Box and while I could run a separate line, and I do have an extra relay on the PE153 Timer, it would add complexity to something I'd like to keep simple. But good...

    SWG making too much Chlorine

Pentair calls it in tolerance, but it is on the high side. I usually run it at 3500 but after 10" of rain in two days, I drained a lot of water out of the pool and guessed wrong when I added salt. :? Good suggestion, thanks.

    Cartridge Filter Too Coarse

Thanks all. Good suggestions. If I can't find a tear or anthing wrong with my filter cartridges, I might try adding a Super Slime Bag (http://www.cleanerpools.net/slimebag.php). Anyone have any experience with these?

    Cartridge Filter Too Coarse

My skimmers remove a layer of dust from the top of the pool, and a dirt accumulates under my the return jets. I believe that the Cartridge Filter used in my Pentair Clean & Clear CC200 is too coarse and I'd like to get a better filter. I have more than enough flow to tolerate a bit more...

    SWG making too much Chlorine

My SWG is set at the lowest level (20%) and my chlorine level stays at 5-6 ppm. I'd like to keep it no higher than 3. I am running the pump for 5.5 hours per day; any less and the pool isn't filtered adequately. I turned the SWG off to let the level drop down to 1 and it took almost two...

    Pentair IC20 low salt

Same problem here with an IC40 (red low salt light on steady) and water temperature in the high 60's. I am at 3800 PPM according to my K-1766 Taylor Salt Test Kit. My builder loaned me a new IC40 and that fixed the problem. Pentair called and since I'm out in the sticks, instead of sending a...

    Waiting for warmer weather

We had our pool installed a few months ago and I've been enjoying learning the maintenance process. This forum has been a BIG help, and a few weeks ago I ordered and received my TF-100 (with Borate and Salt Testers). Thanks for the forum Dave. I'm also retired (and also retired from the US...
