Done, thanks for the heads up. Being pricey as far as apps go, I wasn't expecting it to have problems.

    Pool Calculator for iPhone !

I use it on an ipad touch, my kids use it for other apps/music and regularly run the battery dead flat, so that might explain it. I won't bother with it as is, pain in the but having to set up. Are updates free, if this bug is fixed in updates?

    Pool Calculator for iPhone !

I purchased this app a month or so ago, it works well. However I find I have to input the settings for my pool every time I use it. ie, volume, chemicals used, desired levels etc. Is there a way to save these settings?

    Interesting Boron regulation in Australia

Thanks for the unit conversion, and info, I had read that thread and the testing on dogs and other testing done on rats, I haven't found any human studies but I beleive there have been conditions diagnosed as a result of boron exposure however I an yet to see documentation of the cases. Forgot to switch my pump to "Main Drain" before vacuuming

If it is just leaves you are vacuuming, I would save water and just vacuum in normal filter mode, then empty the basket when finnished. I would only vacuum straight to drain if my pool water level was too high any way, or I have a dust storm etc.

    Chlorine/CYA Chart

Simply for the purpose of the discussion, not to suggest its a better method. If a pool was high in Organic Phosphates, it could be fixed over the closed season. Grow algae and harvest, this would reduce nitrates also. A set up similar to a sand filter with flow or media that has anaerobic...

    Chlorine/CYA Chart

Agree, I was assuming from my short time and reading here that some people might be having problems, this may not be the case or a case of poor FC/CYA management.

    some chem questions

Thanks for the reply, I have found TFT 100 kits here in Oz and waiting for mine to arrive :) Sorry for the typo, yes Ca(OH)2 is correct, But Ca(OH)2 + 2(CO2) = Ca++ + 2(HCO3-). The only complication is dosing to quick, depleting CO2 causing CaCO3 +H2O, and infact can reduce free Ca and HCO3 ions...

    Chlorine/CYA Chart

Interesting reading, thanks. Some thoughts, particularly for constant algae battlers. Algae requires light and nutrients (P04 and or N03), blocking all light is not possible but can help while treating, while ever organics are added you will always have nutrients, and algae will grow even with...

Pool was established at the end of our swim season and we are now entering warmer weather again now, over winter I had nil problems, then lifted the cover...
