    Black Algae Treatment Help

Circling back on my original question. Anyone got any good tips or tools to get into the crevices of this rock feature to take the head off of the black algae? I have this small algae brush, but it's still not small enough to get into the cracks. Maybe an even smaller wire brush will do the...

    Black Algae Treatment Help

We don't right now, it's just the manual 3 way valves. As such, I leave them normally configured to return from the pool and supply to the pool. However, the supply to the pool has a small bypass to supply water to the spa.

    Black Algae Treatment Help

I do have the Intellicenter, but I didn't spring for the IntelliValves when I installed it (they were a bit out of budget when we first got it). Either way, a good call out and even though the valves are expensive, it should save me on costs in acid over time. I'll look into purchasing those...

    Black Algae Treatment Help

Alright, I can remove the bag of CYA, the intention was just to get back to the bare minimum on the SWG chart here: https://www.troublefreepool.com/blog/2019/01/18/chlorine-cya-chart/ Since you mentioned pH, that's always been a real pain in my pool. If floats up constantly due to (what I...

    Black Algae Treatment Help

Long response here, but full context. It's definitely black algae, I used the paper test to confirm. Most of this started because my SWG died this summer and I figured it out late after I came back from a vacation. I was manually dosing liquid chlorine for a lot of the summer, but I wasn't...

    Black Algae Treatment Help

Hey All, I've been fighting with black algae in my pool for some time, scrubbing - slamming, scrubbing - slamming, scrubbing - slamming and it keeps coming back. It's starting to get worse as it's showing up on the floor of the pool now (no idea how I'm going to do a good job scrubbing that)...

    NOTICE - ALL INTELLICENTER USERS

Wow this is awesome, thanks. I think my big ones are listed, but I'll see if I can think of some tomorrow. For sure the biggest headache for me is the mobile/web interface. It's a piece of junk. Minor nit, I would love to be able to hover over the historical graphs and get the values for each...

Tankless Water Heater to Heat My Pool

Out of curiosity, how much are you invested in this setup including plumbing, pumps, the heater, etc. Great experiment btw!

    Pentair IntelliCenter Review and Information

@MyAZPool you inspired me to give this a shot. I didn't have any automation for my pool but I'm a tech guy and always like the "newest" stuff. You first post spoke volumes to me. So I placed my order and got it in the mail. I replaced my old load center and rewired everything myself this past...

    EcoSmart Tankless Electric pool heaters

If you're looking to use electricity to heat the pool I would look towards heat pumps instead. Resistive heating like the EcoSmarts are going to be insanely expensive to run. Looking at this 27kW unit: EcoSmart - Smart Pool 27 That would require 112.5A of power! (27kW / 240V) The wire...

    SWG Proposed Plumbing

The flow switch is before the SWG. The tee is after the SWG before the three-way. I use the water heater pretty frequently so I guess I'll have to re-plumb with a check valve, I don't want it to get messed up as it's fairly new. I'll just have to get creative with how I re-do things. New...

    SWG Proposed Plumbing

Didn't get any replies to this but I wanted to follow up with the end result. Seems to be working well. I had the salt cell at 70% as per the manual and the FC drifted upwards with no additional chlorine added, which was exciting! Dropped it down to 50% today to see if it levels off.

    SWG Proposed Plumbing

Hey All, As the title indicates I wanted to get some feedback on a proposed plumb in for a new SWG. Album Note: I have the temporary cell cleaning connection for the dry fitting as it's easier to manage than the actual SWG. I'm adding the small threaded tee so I can add an acid stenner pump...

    CH Question

Hey Guys, These are my latest readings as of yesterday (I did add more CH to bring the FC up a bit and some acid to bring the PH down) FC (ppm) 6.5 CC (ppm) 0 pH 8 TA (ppm) 100 CH (ppm) 250 CYA (ppm) 60 CSI 0.16 I'll check them again today and FC and CH should be back in...
