New robot for AGP - dolphin but what model?

I just ended up going with the Dolphin E10. I ordered through sunplay.com since they had the best price and no shipping fees or tax. We'll see what happens. The closest dealer to us is over an hour away, so I just decided to purchase online and live with those consequences should something...

New robot for AGP - dolphin but what model?

Thanks for your response. We had a suction side cleaner that broke too (before the pool rover jr, which then broke) ;) Unfortunately, although it makes other parts of keeping the pool clean easier, we have a 2 hp pump on a 21' round, so the suction cleaners just don't seem to work well with that...

New robot for AGP - dolphin but what model?

It's been some time since I've had to come to TFP for help, which is a good thing! That means everything is going along swimmingly ;) However, our Pool Rover Jr bit the dust after 5 seasons (ugh) and I'm looking for a, better, replacement. I think I've landed on getting a Dolphin but I'm...

Solar Saddle - does this look ok?

I didn't even notice that in the picture until this post. That's funny! Wonder how they managed that. Anywho, thanks for all the responses. I think I'm going to give these a shot and see what happens. They aren't terribly expensive, so it's worth a try.

Solar Saddle - does this look ok?

I did see that but I don't think that would work for us. We have two toddlers and it looks like a prime climbing apparatus:) What most attracted me to the ones I posted is that I could easily attach and remove them if my kids decide that it's fun to mess around with the solar cover in the hooks...

Solar Saddle - does this look ok?

Getting all of my ducks in a row for the swim season and I'm looking to purchasing a lighter weight solar cover and some solar saddles. I found the ones at the link below, which look incredibly convienent but I'm wondering whether or not they are safe for my pool rail and walls. Thoughts? Do you...

    Need help w/vacation plan

Just wanted to bump this in case it can help anyone out there. I did as suggested and brought my pool up to shock level and covered with our solar cover two Thursdays ago before we left for vacation all week. Ran our pump 8 hours a day on a timer. When I returned and tested my water this past...

Worried about the installer and also the skimmer

Just wanted to say that we purchased a pool from The Great Escape late last summer and we had a mostly positive experience (the negatives have nothing to do with the install). However, we had three men come and install rather than just one. They had to come from a substantial distance away (3 or...

    Skimmer weir/door sticking

Ok, might need to try that. As best as I could tell, it was simply wedged into the top of the skimmer, no debris, protrusion, or anything in the way. I think it might simply be that it's too long but I didn't know if I could just chop it down myself or if that would screw things up :-D

    Skimmer weir/door sticking

We have a new (installed in late August 2010) pool and opened for the first time this past weekend. Last night I went out to clear out the skimmer basket and thankfully I did because the weir was stuck shut, wedged into the top of the skimmer. So, the pump was running dry for who knows how long...

Very true! Question, when you go OOT, do you have your pump run while you are away?

    Too Big Pump - downsides?

Ok, thanks. Since I have no idea how much more energy we'll be using, it makes it difficult to decide whether or not it might be beneficial for us to try to get a smaller pump and sell this one...or something.

    Need help w/vacation plan

We might be able to possibly have my mother-in-law stop by. However, it's a long shot. We live in a small town that's a bit of a drive for everyone we know that we could ask to do this. I'd ask our nextdoor neighbors who also have a pool but we don't know them very well and I wouldn't feel...

    Need help w/vacation plan

We just opened our pool this weekend and my CYA is < 20, so I'll need to work on bringing that up. We're headed to Mexico on May 20 for a week and I was thinking of throwing some tri-chlor pucks in a floater for the week with our pump on an automatic timer. However, I think we might want to keep...

    Too Big Pump - downsides?

Didn't have time to get back to this until now (opened our pool in the meantime, whooo!). I have a Hayward Power-Flo LX 2hp pump and a Hayward Easy-Clear 125 sq ft cartridge filter

    Pool open, crystal clear!!

We were forced to open a week later than expected due to high winds but no harm done. Hubby and I took the cover off yesterday and it's crystal clear with just a small bit of leaves in the bottom (they all moved to the middle within the first 30 minutes of having the pump running). Filled 'er up...

I'm not at home but I'll check later. Both the pump and filter are Hayward, I know that much!

    Too Big Pump - downsides?

We have a cartridge filter if that makes any difference? The pool is still closed (hoping to start opening process tomorrow, weather permitting) but when I vacuumed at the end of last season, I didn't have any problems with suction or the pump seeming to need additional water. I will keep an...

    Too Big Pump - downsides?

When we purchased our pool package at the end of the season last year, they only had 2 hp pumps available. Us not really knowing much about pumps, we just went with it (of course, at no point did the pool store tell us that it was way too big for our pool). Are there any other downsides to this...

    Stainless Steel Panel

We too have a wilbar from the great escape. Stainless steel panel came standard. I'm almost positive it was packaged with the rest of the pool wall...just had it installed in late August. There was no extra package I can think of that would have held a separate piece.

Is my test kit still ok?

Hello! I'm getting geared up for our first official pool season since having our pool installed in late August (my husband got in a couple of times last year but I didn't--new baby took up all of my time!). I have a question about my TF-100 test kit. I kept the kit in my laundry room over the...

    Pillows under winter cover--what size?

I'm getting ready to order all of our winter "stuff" so we're fully ready when it comes time to close the pool. I'm set that we're going to go with a solid cover (a cheapo for at least this year until we can assess what kind of wind, snow, ice, etc issues we can expect each year--we live in...

    High TA and pH adjustments

After our first week of new pool ownership, all seems to be going well but I do have some questions about TA and pH. My TA is high at around 350...I got distracted during my test last night and ended at 370 but I think it may have been a "drop" or two lower--I'm doing the "adjusted" test for...

Pool is filling! Need help checking my math:)

Ok, I tested my fill water and here's what I came up with. I don't have T/A listed because I got to 30 drops of R0009 on two separate tries and figured I have to be doing something wrong, so I stopped. Not sure what my error is. I'm confident about my other numbers. FC 1.5 CC 0 TC 1.5 pH 8...

Pool is filling! Need help checking my math:)

I've been silenting learning here over the past month while waiting for our pool to be installed. I grew up with a pool but I'm definitely a lot rusty on all of this:) I have my TF100 kit in-hand but I haven't tested anything yet--can't wait, I was a chem major when I started out in...

Before our pool is even installed:)--some information needed

We're having our pool installed within the next two weeks and I have a few questions. I grew up with a pool and assisted with every aspect of pool maintenance, so have a general knowledge about pool care but it's been a while :? We just purchased a 21', 54" Wilbar Quest it's: ~10,408 gallons...
