What is this noise? New motor, old housing/impeller/diffuser

Thank you! That explanation makes sense.

What is this noise? New motor, old housing/impeller/diffuser

That picture is taken from the basket area, pointed back towards the impeller. The camera might not be centered in the basket area, leading it to look like something is off center. I will take the assembly apart and make sure it's all sorted. Thanks

What is this noise? New motor, old housing/impeller/diffuser

I went over lunch and checked it out. I can turn the impeller with a screw driver, but it doesn't spin more than the amount that I push it with the screw driver. Is that expected? I managed to get my phone in there to take a photo. Doesn't look normal, does it? The motor is also very hot...

I'll give that a shot once it stops raining. Thanks!

What is this noise? New motor, old housing/impeller/diffuser

The new motor is a USQ1102 (1 HP). It replaces a 1 HP STA-RITE motor. I consulted with Inyo before making any purchase. The noise in the video above is the noise that made me replace the motor. Clearly, it wasn't the motor making the noise... though the old motor was 11 years old so it was...

What is this noise? New motor, old housing/impeller/diffuser

Yes and yes. The shaft seal was replaced and any o-ring that was part of the assembly was replaced (with the Into "go-kit"). The diffuser inner ring felt a little rough, but I was told some wear there is expected. Impeller didn't appear to be damaged or worn in any way.

What is this noise? New motor, old housing/impeller/diffuser

I recently replaced my aging pimp motor with a comparable model from Inyo. I still have the same noise as before the replacement. Can anyone identify what the noise is? Do I need to replace the impeller or diffuser?

    Direct replacement for MPRA6E-205L?

I replaced the motor, shaft seal, and o-rings last week, but the assembly is still very loud compared to what it used to be. I'm attaching a video below. Is there something else (impeller, diffuser, etc) that would be causing this noise?

    Direct replacement for MPRA6E-205L?

Photos attached… is it the C48* number on the white barcode label? Thanks!

    Direct replacement for MPRA6E-205L?

Our pool is just about 11 years old and things are starting to need replacement. We just did the liner and now I feel the STA-RITE MPRA6E-205L pump is on its last leg. It’s getting louder and the output doesn’t feel quite as strong as it used to. Is there a direct replacement for this pump...

Water level dropping ~1" every 8-10 hours...

Ok, I'll continue to let it drop and call someone to take a look. If it ends up being the two main drains, I guess I'll be in the market for a new liner. :cautious:

Water level dropping ~1" every 8-10 hours...

This weekend I noticed the pool water level dropped quite a bit overnight. The following night I marked the water level with the pump off and checked first thing in the morning. It dropped at least an inch overnight (pump off, no swimmers, no nothing). There are no visible leaks coming from...

Want to replace 100% of my water

I like that idea! I had thought of directing downspouts in to the pool (with inline filters), but have yet to take any action. Did you bury your tanks?

Want to replace 100% of my water

That is certainly an option. :) I think I pay about $260 for 6000 gallons... so close to $800 total. Part of the reason I started thinking about total replacement was my repeated failed attempts at handling the issue with chemicals; it was starting to add up and my spirit was headed in the...

Want to replace 100% of my water

Sorry for the delayed response (busy weekend!). The liner will be 10 years old this summer. It has faded a bit, but there are no tears, leaks, etc. As for which sequestrants I've tried... I've used Jack's Magic Purple and Natural Chemistry Metal Free. I did the Jack's Magic stain test...

Want to replace 100% of my water

I've been fighting metal issues in my pool for the last several years. I feel the amount of metal in the water is too high and I'm tired of trying to manage the staining. I tried replacing as much as I could last year (leaving water up to the bottom of the stairs in the shallow end) but that...

Time to replace water? Orange stains, again

I had that very thought of taking the heater completely out of the picture. We turned it on the first day we had it (June 2010) to make sure it worked, but never again after that. Thanks!

Time to replace water? Orange stains, again

My iron problem has been getting worse over the last few years. Our water is dull and lifeless. I miss the days of crystal clear water. I don't know what to pin it on, but my area does have high levels of iron in the water. Note: I haven't used hose water to fill the pool in years. At the...

PAL 2000 not working correctly. Options?

That's part of the issue... they're all out of sync now. Two of them are just stuck on the cycle mode (except it's more like a freak out than a normal cycle).

PAL 2000 not working correctly. Options?

Our pool lighting consists of three PAL 2000 multi-color lights. When power is supplied to the lights, they quickly cycle though the various colors. I like to call it "epileptic mode." I can toggle the power all I want... they never work correctly. I don't know how these fixtures are put...

That is helpful, thank you. I will start with a iron test kit and see what I'm dealing with.

What is going on here? Stains returned after treatment

We are not on well water, but our town water is notorious for high iron. When we built the house, a lot of our plastic (tupperware, clear cups, etc) started to stain orange. I just ran a test: FC: 1 CC: 0 pH: 7.2 TA: 140 (what!?!?!?) Salt: 3200 My water is super cloudy now. I'm getting...

What is going on here? Stains returned after treatment

Forgot to report back! The stains lifted as I slowly raised the FC. :) Unfortunately, the SWG raised the FC a bit too much (5-6) while we were away on vacation last week and I returned to a lot of staining. The steps were orange and the spots around the liner also reappeared. I'm...

What is going on here? Stains returned after treatment

This spring I've been trying to tackle an staining issue in my pool. Over the last few years we noticed an orange stain starting/growing, and when I opened the pool this year I hit my breaking point. The water was no longer blue and had no shimmer. After a lot of reading I dug out my...
