    Velvet-up

Apparently I do not, yet, have access to a Data Sheet about this product. The Formal MSDS might not even be needed as the product is not intended for use in the United States. I'll be back as soon as I can ((read: if)) with additionnal infos. Thanks anyways.

    Velvet-up

A not-so-quick question: Our company just received a product called Velvet-Up, under our own Brandname. Here's the label: ----- ''This innovative product makes spa water crystal clear. Velvet-Up has been specially formulated to provide a feeling of well-being to the skin. the Velvet-Up does...

Please help me choose a pool surface type...

We only sell Vinyl here, but: - Tend to be smaller: You have dimensions in mind. They can't make it, too bad for them. - Locked into styles that they sell: Kidney and Oval are pretty standard, and make looking for a cover that much easier. - Lifting out and small cracks: Go see some of the...

Practices in a Pool Store (Piercing the veil of ignorance)

PH Buffer might have been the cause. If it was added, it could have precipitated the calcium... So there must have been an higher occurence of backwashes needs. Got it. Gonna ask a few questions to my customer. I'll avoid using the word ''Phosphate'', if I can, however. Thanks. Will follow...

Practices in a Pool Store (Piercing the veil of ignorance)

Okay, I got a new one. One of my ''customers'' who is also in the industry, came up with a strange occurence. Pool is 30'x55', 14' deep, 173000 gallons, pool from 1950 PH: 7,6 Alc: 80 Cya: About 100 or a bit more Ch: 3.0 CH: 80 CH is unreliable. Tested by drops. Often read 0. Pool is NOT on...

    Closing question!

Covers are completely optionnal. But: -What they do not catch, you'll have to scrap it from the bottom. Depending on your backyard setup, this may or may not include pets. There are gadgets that can be installed that will allow them to climb out. I know this is somewhat grim, but worth being...

Phosphates can be a serious problem

Sounds either like a whole neighborhood using chlorine tabs / phosfree or someone who actually tries to help his customers. Before I found TFP I could have said exactly the same, which few poolowners would.

    Chlorine Scaling?

Ask to see the manager. Most of these kids are well intended, and kept a bit in blissful ignorance. That way they can be ''honest'' without actually telling the truth. It is a modus Operandi through the industry, not something done on purpose. You accepted to be serviced by a 10$ an hour kid.

Murky water at opening...anyway to prevent this at closing?

** Also, put your Sand Filter on the function ''winterize'' to protect the diverter ''gasket'' inside it. If you don't have that function, leave it in between two functions.

What cell phone service do you have

8-) A New Challenger Appears! 8-) Service provider: Bell (http://www.bell.ca/home/) Phone: Sanyo SCP-7050 (or so the phone itself says) I barely even use mine as a phone. More like a page/calculator. I tolerate it's existence for my employer is the only one with its number and the one...

Murky water at opening...anyway to prevent this at closing?

Disconnect the pump. Connect the blower into the pipe going to the skimmer. Blow the line. Plug the skimmer's entrance. The same can be done for your returns. If you have more than one skimmer/return, plug them as they bubble out. This will cause the air blown to need another exit, blowing...

    Chlorine Scaling?

Trust yourself. You have legit reasons not to trust the stores (at least when chemicals are concerned). There are ways to test what the deposit is, if you can get a sample. Test it with MA, if it reacts it is calcium carbonate. Solution is to keep PH/Alcalinity lower to couterbalance, partial...

Please help to to re-assemble my Hayward DE filter!

You may have some problems keeping the pool 100% clear (as in small particles will remain aloft in the water), but not filtering for a few days is not an health hazard. Keep an eye on Chlorine/CYA to keep water disinfected as usual and it should be ok.

Phosphates can be a serious problem

Don't blame Mike. Until recently, whenever a customer had a green pool problem, the blame went onto Orthophosphates (or algeas stuck on god-mode). It's not the pucks that greatlt overstabilized your pool (who does the CYA test anyways), not you who forgot to put in chlorine in your pool, it's...

    Closing question!

 Phosfree / Pool Magic might have an use (read MIGHT) as pool magic can fight organics and prevent stains. MetalFree however... this part is funny as it will lower pH/Alcalinity without doing any real work, unless you have metal in your pool. This shouldn't be part of what they...

    Closing question!

The questions are: What is inside your closing kit? Is it chemicals, or simply hardware? The hardware was needed. It probably includes a plug, styrofoams for your skimmer, foam for your drain (serpentine) and such. The chemicals, well, not as much. It is in the pool store philosophy to sell...

Please help to to re-assemble my Hayward DE filter!

Hopefully, your local pool store may have the needed insight. The industry does a wonderful job informing the stores when it comes to Hardware (this is NOT true when it comes to chemicals).

    the clorine geni

:? Then you all agree this peculiar system works but would never be worth its original retail price? I remain skeptical, but the point of wheter Pool Gal is or isn't affiliated to the Chlorine Geni is now moot. As the job of a sales representative is to add value to his/her product...

    Aquatrol cell

I cannot fully answer the question as we only have Hayward's P4 in store, not the aquatrol. But Hayward's cells, the Turbo-Cells can be upgraded on a P4. Since the system is far more complex, however, it might be able to recognize the cell (like your computer recognize new equipments plugged...

ph level at closing on AGP

Okay. A- For the water return on an Above-ground pool: Don't plug it. Instead remove the hose on the other side of the return. This way, water will naturally sip out of your water return. Since the return SHOULD be lower than your skimmer, it will prevent damage to the skimmer (as water cannot...

When you post through the ''Reply'' button, Under the area where you type your post, there's an area called ''upload attachment''. Otherwise, this level of knowledge and references to problems other systems may or may not have, especially since you ''bought'' it yourself, not through a...

    High PH

I concur. However, if one dilute the dry acid beforehand, I doubt any damage will result. Never allow a chemical to sit on the bottom. With very few exceptions, no matter the chemical you add, it's better off with the system running. On another topic, next time the dust reappear (if it does)...

Please help to to re-assemble my Hayward DE filter!

I am not a Mr. Fixit, but this (especially page 2) may help. Turns out we still sell that one, or something similar. http://www.haywardnet.com/products/manu ... anual9.pdf Hope that helped, if not, Hayward's customer service might.

    Good news...I think

Question 1: That would be my suggestion. If there's no FC loss, there's no chlorine getting used up. Thus no organics to battle. Better safe than sorry though. Question 2: Minimum means you should NEVER go lower than this number while fighting mustard algea. Once it is killed though i do not...

    High PH

Although it WILL be a guess, with a PH steadily on the rise and a CH over 400, that sand-like substance does sound like scaling. Your test result are okay, but: Salt at 1800... are you using a SWCG or is it a by-product of bleach? If you have a SWCG, it might be a good idea to turn it off. It...

    "Free closing"

Haven't heard of that one before. Custom here is to unplug it, empty it and bring it inside the garage or something (if it ain't already). We also suggest one puts all gizmos (O-rings, fittings and pressure gauge) inside the pump so they're easy to find when you re-open.

    High PH

Mamasproject, please ignore my post unless someone else aknowledge it and the suggestion contained within. But as water becomes colder, it's saturation index drops. To counterbalance and correct any damage caused by the chlorine tablets, we (our pool store) add sodium bicarbonate in a floater...

    Good news...I think

What are your numbers? (pH, FC, CC, TA, CH, CYA...) Although it seems it was kept in check, slippery and bright yellow and doesn't appear in the areas where light shines the brightests (as your wall/skimmer doesn't receive as much light as the bottom of the pool, for exemple.) I am lead to...

    "Free closing"

''We fill the pool with anti-freeze. Since Anti-freeze weighs more than water it will remain in the pool, so there can only be a few inches of water, so this way there is no risk to the liner, the safety cover, the skimmers, the returns, the lines... and we do it for free if you buy the...
