    Up and running

We had a few wild weather days this past week(for this time of the year in northern Utah) High winds, some rain....maybe a half-inch all week. With as dry as it has been, the pool got some dust along with quite a few leaves (the skimmer took care of the larger items. I have vaccumed twice...

Okay, all my zip chlor is gone. I tested my CYA and it still doesnt show up to 30 on my HTH kit. The dot was getting cloudy but still visible. It has to be close to that though. OTO chlorine drops are still showing anywhere from 1 to 3 at the end of the sunny day. So that leads me to...

Yes, Thanks. I usually try to shoot for half as bad. I do have the HTH 6 way test kit. My PH test was hard to tell. My BEST guess was 7.8, but it definately could have been higher. That is why I took it to the pool store. Well that, and to test the CYA, but because of the PH.... :blah...

Took water to the pool store to have them test it today. And stopped by Home Depot for some Muriatic Acid on the way home. If that tells ya what they found. :) 8.8 on the PH. I had the pool covered with that ridiculous Intex cover today because I discovered that it heated the water up pretty...

Yeah, I'll probably do that. I only have till MAYBE the first week in September left, so I dont want to throw too much more money at it, but I look at it as good practice for next year. :) Thanks again. I will update this thread tomorrow with current measurements to make sure I am moving in...

    Census Poll on Intex Users

My wife bought this light the other day. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Intex-LED-Pool-Wall-Light/13038093 I am pretty impressed with it. It really lights up nice. Not super bright on the other side of the pool, but it is a real nice shade of blue all over the pool. Not as bright as that picture...

Thank you so much for the reply...I bought 2 pounds. I put 11 more ounces in it tonight. Looks like I will need more. :? Still looks great. Judging by what you said, It may be a little light on the dosage, but I was so afraid of over doing it on the CYA since I couldn't find the...

    Up and running

OKay all, My pool finished filling yesterday. I went to the pool store to get some dichlor and ended up with Zip Chlor concentrate. Here is a link to the instructions incase you are unfamiliar with it. http://www.proteampoolcare.com/san_zipchlor.htm It seems they call for alot less of that than...

    Re- opening pool

I too was pool stored into the Zip Chlor. Any idea how much it takes get the CYA up to levels we need? Being that my season is down to a few weeks to a month at best, I bought the HTH test kit instead of the TF100. With that said, I only have 2 tests for CYA and the pool store is an...

    Trying to get started . . .

so, what is the proper method the prefered method to apply HTH Stabilzer. Dissolve in bucket? Put in skimmer? If it is in skimmer, do I put it in a sock, or stockings or something? Or put it in a sock by the return? I have seen other posts where people are trying to vacuum up the un...

    First Four Days

Oh,,,I thought they were the same...does it add CYA the same as Dichlor? Or should I just find some dichlor? How should I apply it? If I dont find Dichlor I assume I use the HTH Stabilizer as per the pool calculator instructions? Which for 13000 gal, assuming I am at zero and try to get to...

    First Four Days

The "first four days" section in the pool school mentions to add the Dichlor to a bucket, let it dissolve and pour it in. In alot of other threads they mention the sock method. I, more than likely, will be using the HTH Stabilizer from Wally World. Which method should I use? at 1 oz per 500...

Thanks AAAH, there it is. Thank you..that should keep me from asking repeated questions. Seems like it should be okay if I do it right. But, we'll see. Thanks you for taking the time to search for that for me.

    Census Poll on Intex Users

I wish this site had a "search this thread" function. Anyways, I know it is a little early to be talking about this, but I live in northern Utah. What are the thoughts about leaving up my pool during the colder time of the year. Trying not to say the "W" word yet. :) Obviously if I did, I...

Thanks for the advice on the lumber, but I already have blocks, and I only have another month or 2 for the season here in northern Utah and plan on pouring a concrete pad for it next year. Do ya think I will be okay using the blocks for this year? @jsf...you are saying that the tops of the...

    Sump Pump Question

Just incase anyone is in need of this info...I ended up with a 1/2 HP pump, and adapted a 3/4" hose to run it to the street. It is taking a couple days, but it is getting there. :) In the future, I will be getting the bigger hoses, pipes, whatever. My patience has never been my virtue.....

    Census Poll on Intex Users

New Intex owner here. Got the 24' round. Crew coming out to level yard tomorrow. I have some of those cheap 12X12 inch pavers to put under the legs. Without going out there, I am going to guess that they are about 1 1/2" thick. My question is, do I need to get them to ground level, or can I...

    Pool Liner Underlayment

Is the foam still holding up for you? Next year we want to put a concrete pad for the pool to sit on, so I dont want to WASTE putting all that sand sown only to remove it to pour the pad. Are you talking about the Pink or Blue sheets from like Home Depot or Lowes or something? We were...

    Sump Pump Question

That wouldnt put too much pressure on the pool pump? And on that same token, would I submerge the pump ot just run a longer intake tube? If I decided to go the sump pump route, somewhere between 1/2 to 1 HP would be okay? Sorry, but I have never used one before and thought I would ask before...

    Sump Pump Question

Hello all...New B here. I learned the lesson that close to level is not close enough for our new Intex 24'X52" AGP. Now I want to drain it and start over...However if I drain it where it sits..I will have a big mess. (Lots of dark clay content in our yard, and our neighbors inground pool lies...
