Been shocking over the last week my readings from TF-100 Test kit a few minutes ago are FC=9 CC=0 PH=7.2 TA=100 CYA=40 Water is clearing I can now see the bottom...my question is, do I need to boost my PH up and what do I use...Borax?

Tested a few minutes ago and this is what I got after 12 hours of adding 5 lbs. of stabilizer. FC= 4.5 I added 1 ~ 182oz. jug of bleach last evening...PH is still at 7.2 TA is 120 and CYA test showed 40...I hope it doesn't go much higher than that. The pool calculator told me to add 7.2...

ok I added borax and 1 jug of 186 oz bleach...so I am assuming I wont get an accurate reading on the cya for 48 hours..is that correct? I will raise to shock level tomorrow evening because it is about to storm here.

Just retested...all 6 bottles of 182 oz I put in the pool are gone....no FC! Re-did cya still showing 0 so I went and bought some stabilizer. My PH is now 7.2 and alkalinity is 120...do I need to add some borax before putting in stabalizer? and Can I add more bleach to shock with stabilizer or...

Thank you for the fast response....Last year it only dropped from 80 to 70 after Winter so I didn't know if it was possible for it to be completely gone. Mine is 93 degrees...just checked it. I am going through about 6 ppm a day as well at a 70 CYA level. I wish the heat wave would pass!

I wish I could run mine at 2 ppm....I hate having to keep it so high. Seems like no matter how much bleach I add I end up at 6.5 ppm every evening. LOL I will try it at 12 ppm though. Sounds like a good number to me. Maybe this heat wave will end soon and I can go back to using a little less...

Thank you....I thought I was doing myself a favor and staying ahead of the game by adding extra bleach. I didn't realize the sun would pull it right back out in such great amount. I appreciate the info. I like to keep it closer to 10 ppm running a cya of 70ppm. I just did a test with the TF-100...

Yes...I test with the TF-100 kit....I just checked my FC a minute ago and it was at 5.5...with a CYA of 70 ppm I understand I need to keep it between 5 and 8 ppm. I will add enough bleach this evening to get it back to around 9ppm and then do the OCLT. Thanks

I had a friend tell me yesterday that she is using this Pristine Blue in her pool and how much money she has saved. I researched it and found out the main ingredient was copper. I told her to use the BBB method. And she just bought a new liner....I would hate to see it all spotted from copper.

Yes...I have to keep my chlorine between 6 and 11 because of my CYA being so high. When I opened my CYA was at 184 and I had to drain half the water. I still need to drain more water to get it down...about 38%more but I use well water and my pump is ancient. So I am running a higher FC level...
