TWO GLORIOUS YEARS IN A ROW

I absolutely ove this site, love the members, LOVE THE BBB METHOD! While I remove my cover to crystal clear water every year, my relatives and friends pull back their covers to reveal a swamp! Maybe they'll catch on pretty soon!

    Evaporator raising PH too high.

Yes I used the evaporator last year, and don't recall having this issue with having to lower TA and PH. I'm on a well, so I don't add water often I let Mother Nature do it for me, but it's been blistering hot here this week with little rain, so I'll probably be sticking the hose in there soon...

    Evaporator raising PH too high.

Couldn't tell you what my calcium is, I have a vinyl pool and have never checked it, CYA is at 40 and water temp is 83. It generally goes up 6 degrees a day, but the evaporator usually brings it down 6 degrees overnight. that's good to know!!! never had this problem last year, I think I...

    Evaporator raising PH too high.

Hello everyone, I tried a search for the answer, but no such luck. So, I'm hoping someone knows the answer. Since using the BBB method, my water sparkles, so no issues there. I try to keep my PH around 7.4 and ALK at 100-110, I've had no issues doing either, and I know that agitating the...

    RIBBBBBEEETTTTTT!

Trial and error....but so far the frog hunting is going well.....still working on my technique!!!! I removed about a dozen from the pool in less than 5 minutes once it got dark, but in the process of transferring the little devils from the catching to the containing apparatus, combined with the...

    RIBBBBBEEETTTTTT!

Please help me! Every time we have a thunderstorm, which seems like every other day. My property erupts with the gleeful chirpings of tree frogs, announcing their upcoming orgy in my pool! I'm getting tired of awakening to a ga-zillion little tree frog eggs floating around in there and the...

    What Now?!

Conducting it poolside, in varying daylight. Sometimes it's sunny outside, sometimes it's not! =/

    What Now?!

AH HA!!! I know it's a subjective test, but all last year it always tested within 5ppm. I'll keep an eye on it the next few days, and hopefully I'll get it dialed in again. Thanks for clearing that up for me and your help, have a wonderful week!

    What Now?!

Thanks JL....is it normal for my CYA to drop 20ppm in 24 hours,? I understand that it can fluctuate the first week, so should I just be more worried about monitoring my PH, and TC? I don't check my CH, because I'm under the impression it's just not that important with a vinyl liner. I guess...

    What Now?!

Ok, I finally got the pool bottom done, new liner in, and filled a couple days ago. The water had a greenish hue to it straight off the truck. No worries, went straight into getting water balanced using the BBB method, here's the results from day one to today. Wondering what's going on with...

Vermiculite pool bottom and Gorilla pad

Ok folks, hope all of you are well. Here's my question.....after installing the pool last year with a sand bottom and not being happy with it, just had a vermiculite bottom installed today. I am wondering if I can reuse, or should I reuse my Gorilla Pad I used on my sand bottom? Will it hold...

    pool open'd ..

Wishing you the same Kenneth! Just pulled my cover off today as well, after my first season of BBB, and doing nothing but raising the FC to shock. WALLA....beautiful crystal clear water.....which is currently being drained to replace sand bottom (digging all that out tomorrow) with vermiculite...

    getting pool...have a few questions?

Definitely get the TF test kit! I think his name was Dave (please forgive me if I'm wrong....I am old) and he was very helpful. Last year was my first year with a pool, and after using the BBB method and enjoying a whole summer of sparkling water, I'll never use anything else!!! Enjoy your...

    To winterize or not

Thank you for that answer and the link! Everything you said makes perfect sense. We do lose power often during ice storms, thankfully I lived at the hurricane riddled coast and kept my generator for such an occasion! Most AG owners that I personally know do drain and winterize...

    To winterize or not

This is our first winter with the new pool. Right now we're running it 24/7, but I was going to set a timer to run maybe 4-6 hours twice a day during the colder temps. I'm wondering if it is possible to leave it open all winter or is this not advisable for fear of freezing. The pool is...

Where should my CYA level be?

Here is the one I built, took me about 15 minutes, and actually does drop my water temp 6-8 degrees overnight, and that was when evening temps in the 80's and quite humid. Just plumbed a 1 1/2" tee off a return line reduced to 1" with a few 1/8" holes drilled in it. I glued a 1" threaded union...

    Well Water

what's the best way to check for metals? I'm guessing copper and iron would be the trouble makers.
  24. artattacktat2

Where should my CYA level be?

Completely agree neighbor! I checked it this morning and the temp was 79 (epic shrinkage) maybe I shouldn't have cooled it down so much last week especially with this recent cool snap and overcast weather. Sure hwish the weatherman could get it together. Must be nice to have a job where you...

    Well Water

Are you saying I need to do that EVERYTIME I stick a hose in there to top it off?????? :?:
  26. artattacktat2

    Well Water

Ok, had pool originally filled by having water trucked in, Since then I may have to add an inch or so of water weekly via hose from my 500+ ft deep well. When we have our summer downpours then it really isn't necessary. I'm wondering if adding small amounts of well water is going to put metals...

Where should my CYA level be?

Thanks, I actually had it as high as 80 when I had the auto chlorinator hooked up and filled with pucks. Will try raising it up a bit.

Thanks all. I designed and built it, and originally it was only supposed to have a step or two up. Unfortunately my sloped yard required a few more. Pool ladder installed today! :)

Here's my little project that I undertook in the hottest two weeks on recent record! Like the makeshift step? Have since installed pool steps and evaporator In the process of redoing upper deck. This is what happens when you don't treat a wood deck!!!!
