Ok. Added some more bleach today. (about 3 jugs of 182 oz.) and left for my son's graduation in the morning. Came back two hours later and AT LAST had from FC in the pool. I have been testing every two hours since 10am and its still holding FC. I can see a real improvement in water clarity...

1 hour later and my test for FC shows .5 again... its like it dissapeared . Not sure what the next step is....

CYA down to 50 and I went ahead with Step 1 which is to add bleach. I will let you know how things look.

Ok here is the million dollar question. How do I get my FC up to 30 without using dichlor bag shock. I am willing to try anything since it does not seem that the dichlor is working anyway. And should I try adjusting my PH now? With all that shock in the pool? I do still have my in-line...

The water is cloudy blue. It has improved a bit since about a week ago. The chemical in my shock is 99% Dichlor . It may be adding CYA since I have seen an increase in this test today. And yes, I mean chloramines. Here are my test results: PH: 6.8 (this has been decreasing today) FC: 0.5...

I am swapping out the sand in my sand filter and my pool store person told me that when they install a sand filter, they put a layer of gravel in the bottom of it. We picked the bag of gravel up along with the sand but, I did not see gravel in my filter after I cleaned all the sand out of it...
