Vinyl Metal Staining from Clorox pool salt.

Wow, crappy reviews from the Wally world website. Guess salt just isn't salt. Never had that problem with any other brands though.

Vinyl Metal Staining from Clorox pool salt.

Hey all, Just an FYI. With the never ending rain of the gulf coast I've gone through a lot of salt. Usually use mortons pool salt from wally world but this time they had Clorox brand pool salt. Only difference I saw was it was fine granular vs coarse. Dumped in 2 bags but since I was headed...

Need help setting up new pump

I'm using the built in timer. I can see form the instructions how to set speed and a start and stop time. Do you use the egg timer to set various speeds throughout the day? The vibration is below 1200 rpm, the pump looks flat on the pad and is stable. Do you think its the pump itself of the...

Need help setting up new pump

For the time being, back to the first question. Is there a good way to run at a low speed then at 1500 rpm for a few hrs? Also do you think the vibration I'm getting at low rpms is a big issue? I'll check the flow switch.

Need help setting up new pump

Pressure at 1500 is 5psi if I remember right and the pressure at 2200 was 12 which was the same as my old pump. I'll be fishing in the morning so i'll check when I get home. I don't believe I have any check valves.

Need help setting up new pump

I just installed a Pentair IntelliFlo Variable Speed Pump 011018 and need a little help setting it up. The SWG cuts out below 1500 rpm. I was thinking about running it at 750 RPM all day with a increase of speed to 1500 for 3-4 hrs for the SWG. I figured out how to program the time for 1 speed...

    My eyes have become puffy

are you sure it's not your goggles. Typical Salt water pool is around 3000ppm and the majority of interstitial fluid/plasma is 9000ppm (0.9%). If skin was highly permeable (which it isn't) you would loose salt, not gain it. I agree with Jason, it's something else, not the salt. Have you ever...

    Installing a new pool pump

Our power company just began offering a $600 rebate for variable speed pool pumps. I can get a intelliflo vs-3050 online for around $850. Installed form local pool stores would be around 1200-1300. How hard would it be to put it in myself? I've never done anything quite like that before.

Pollen/Dust in the pool, ready to throw in the towel

update if anyone is still following. I was mustard algae. Last night FC 36.5 CC 0, this morning FC 33.5 CC .5, this evening FC 26.5 CC 1. First time I've ever had a CC of 1. Water looks great. Just put in some bleach to bring the FC up to around 40 and will check the OCLT again.

Pollen/Dust in the pool, ready to throw in the towel

Leslie's sells sucky bleach. I usually buy it form the local pool store at anywhere for 12-15%. This stuff from leslies says 10.5 % and is more like 6-7. Just had to add 2.5 gal more. I wish the other store was open on weekends. Either way its still cheaper than wallyworld

Pollen/Dust in the pool, ready to throw in the towel

On the plus side I just realized the bubbles in my return were from the SWG. I turned it off after I added 3Gal of 12% and the bubbles went away. I'm going to try to shock it and see what happens. I'm just worried I have a cracked lateral or something else wrong with the filter...

Pollen/Dust in the pool, ready to throw in the towel

I just shocked to pool to try it. I did notice that when I added 6 cups of DE my pressure bumped up by 1 but is now back down to where I started. I don't see andy clouds of DE coming out of the returns but could I have a filter problem.

Pollen/Dust in the pool, ready to throw in the towel

I posted a while back about what I thought was pollen in the pool. I am having to vacuum to waste nearly every week to keep it away which is heck on chemicals and water bill. This didn't start happening till a month ago, never had this problem last year except once. It looks like a...

    Pool Pollen

Wasn't sure which forum to put this in so move it if needed. I keep getting a brownish yellow "dust" that settles on the bottom. When undisturbed water is crystal clear. More seems to settle in the vinyl seems. I think its pollen from all the surrounding pines. If I brush it, it re-settles...

Did you know that Vinyl liners contain calcium?

and low calcium causes them to become brittle! Or at least I was just told when I went to pick up some 12% bleach at the pool store. He was told by his "chemist friend" and even drew out the basic formula for vinyl CH=CH2 to show me all the calcium (CH). I tried to explain what a hydrocarbon...

    Where to buy borax

Went to buy borax at the local Wally world and was told they no longer stock it. It was too expensive at the local grocery store. So if anyone is interested I found the 76oz boxes at buy.com for $4.29 no tax with free shipping. The fed ex guy is going to be ******.

    Ethics

Your preaching to the choir, every time I turn around the govt cuts more payments to me while health insurance, benifits and salaries go up. If the 30% medicare cuts go through I'll probably have to drop medicare as it will drop below my break even point. or will have to borrow money to pay our...

Pool prep for surrounding concrete work

Pool prep for surrounding concrete work

The prevous owner of our house put a extremely slick "non-slick" coating on the concrete that he painted on before we moved in. It has been coming up like a snow storm every time I hose off the concrete. We are going to have a textured concrete design epoxy put down (the product is called...

well I just vacumed it out to the yard (i think), but when I when to unhook the vac plate from the skimmer it had come off. So who knows if I actually vacumed it at all. I guess if it comes back in a couple days I'll try it again (with somone making sure the vac plate doesn't come off)

already tried that, helped a bit but not much. Going to try to vacume to waste in a bit. But man does it look like all the pics of mustard algae I've seen. The sad thing is, pool is clear, chlorine demand is normal, isn't hurting me, I'm just anal.

    Do I have mustard algae

hey all! About a week ago i noticed the liner was looking a bit dull, so when I brushed a thin cloud of "dust" came up. A week later that hasn't returned. I also had some dirt in the deep end and the usual place in the shallow end. I always get some sand and silt in these areas, but I vacume...
