Make sure you use the Rinse cycle after backwashing.

We had the same problem. Turns out you are supposed to use the Rinse setting after backwashing. Try it. Good luck.

We bought the Butterfly from WalMart at the end of last season for $99. It's AWESOME! When the water bags inside the bottom part are filled it is VERY sturdy. We never worry about it blowing over, and it gets really windy in my area. I highly recommend it. tlbb

Since the steps are fiberglass, couldn't you use a fiberglass repair kit? Like you would for a shower or tub?
