    Buying Home with Pool Issues

Thanks for the reply. My main concern is the pool liner and expected costs associated with getting it replaced and based on the few responses $3,500-4,500 seems reasonable to expect. I can easily swap out the SWG or the pump without major demo expenses. The owner realizes the pool needs work...

    Buying Home with Pool Issues

Hey Everyone, -We are looking at a home with a pool that looks like it will need some significant updating. I currently have a pool, so I understand the headaches that come along with buying a pool. According to the owner, the pool was installed in 2008. I've attached pictures with the...

    Persistent Dead Algae

I'm fairly certain it is fine sand and other particles caught in the filter. I vacuumed the entire pool, turned off the filter and left it overnight. With the pump on it usually results in the problem. After leaving it off overnight, the pool was still crystal clear. Must have a crack in a lateral.

    Persistent Dead Algae

Hard to tell. Mostly along the lines at the bottom of the pool, some in the shallow end, and if theres a little crease in the liner then along that crease

    Persistent Dead Algae

I'll try the sock and see if that changes anything. I did a regular vacuum and it looked great that night. The next morning I came out and it was back as usual. Then I tried to vacuum to waste and the next morning same result. It doesn't really look like mustard algae because it's like lines of...

    Persistent Dead Algae

Moved from here. Looks like I'm having a similar problem. I'm having the same problem with shallow end, slope, and seams and it appears in lines. Does it look like the picture below? I've been slamming for 5 days with no color change, vacuumed it to waste, and it keeps coming back around...

    Green High FC

After 2.5 weeks of being at 1.0-1.25x shock level and no improvement I got desperate and went 2x to see if there was an improvement.

    Green High FC

Has definitely cleared up. Not crystal clear but only a slight tinge of green. Definitely improved. FC is back down to around 22.

    Green High FC

I'll give it a couple of days and see where we stand. We had to do a big drain and refill last year (over 15,000 gallons from previous owners cya levels) but was clear all last year. Our city water tests show 0.12ppm copper and 0.07ppm iron, both below national averages.

    Leslies supershock

Looks like the stuff I got last year at Ollie's. 2.49/gallon 12.5% just make sure the date isn't too old. Had a 15% off coupon too. Dot see it in their ad, but picked up the first week of May last year.

List it on eBay for parts, auction only and buyer pays shipping. I'm sure someone would buy it for $50.

    Used Polaris 9300 vs G3

I found what I think might be a pretty good deal on craigslist. A used 9300 for $250. He said the motor was replaced last season other than that excellent condition. Is this as good of a price for one as I am thinking it might be? Other than the motor replacement no issues. I have a 18x36...

Convince me a robot is better...

I have this and had a heck of a time cleaning the shallow end. Do you have a deep and shallow end? I am so fed up with it I'm about to junk it and go to something else because It won't make it up the slope. It makes it half way up the slope and slowly turns and heads back down.

    Plumbing new AQR15

I understand now. Just to make sure, I'll need 4 total. Two for each end of the set and flow switch. Correct I guess it would be easier just to get a small 2inch piece and plumb that between the swg and the flow sensor. So it would be. 1.5 to bushing to swg to 2inch to flow sensor to bushing...

    Plumbing new AQR15

Can I use this to go from 1.5 ==> 2 inch. Or only 2 down to 1.5. And just to clarify, I'll need 2 for the cell and 2 for the flow switch?

    Plumbing new AQR15

Hi everyone, We have 1.5 inch pipe for all our plumbing. The AQR15 is 2inch plumbing and I want to know the best way to go from 1.5 X2 then back to 1.5. I saw this coupler but the psi is listed as maximum of 5 psi. Is this ok? Can I use this to from 1.5x2? 2 in. x 1-1/2 in. PVC DWV Reducing...

    Cleaner stuck on main drain

We had our main drain plugged due to a busted pipe last summer. Now that we don't have a main drain anymore, I want to replace our current drain cover, with something that won't cause our cleaner to get stuck. Are there any good options of drain covers that would stop a cleaner from getting...

    Time to replace sand filter?

That's it! Did a deep clean yesterday and the water was so dark and cruddy. I'm filtering now and actually having to backwash every couple of hours and the pool got much better overnight. Went from not seeing the second step after 6 days to seeing the pattern on the shallow end after about 16...

    Time to replace sand filter?

Hi Everyone, Finally got fed up with all the pool store issues after having to pay $450 to drain and refill my pool with 2/3 new water because of their recommendations. After my first SLAM pool went from Dark Green --> Minty Green --> Gray --> Blue. However I have been running my filter 24/7...
