Should I be seeing any particles in the water at all ?

I am using a DE Pentair 2000 (discontinued) and in daylight the water looks great, sparkling clean. The chlorine and Ph are good. However, at night, if I put the pool light on, you can see particles in the water. I ran the pump for 24 hours (normally I run for about 6 hours and if people are in...

Pentair 2000 Lid Opener, where can I get one ?

I have a Pentair 2000 filter but I don't appear to have the lid opener tool and I haven't been able to find one online. Since I can't find the tool, what is the best way to get the lid off without damaging anything ?

    Pool replaster, Burbank CA

That's what I am having installed too, Midnight Blue but by NPT (Quartzscapes). I was going to ask about the start up on here, so what's involved with the start up ? Is that something I can do myself ? I'll check with the PB about the install, cheers.

Aesthetic. I never really liked the existing coping or the tile that went round the pool so I am replacing both.

Can I change a vinyl pool to gunite?

Actually I did this about eight years ago so yes you can. But the work involved will depend on how the existing hole in the ground has been built. We pretty much ended up with a job that was a new build minus the excavation.

Not much happened after the demo until this week. The coping was delivered and is being cut and placed.

Pool care while on vacation ?

What arrangements do people make for pool care when they go on vacation ? I am hoping to start maintaining my pool myself this year but I just realized I will be gone for a couple of weeks in the summer and I am not sure what to do. I'm sure our friends will be using the pool while we are...

    Pool replaster, Burbank CA

The kids had a great time playing in the pool while it was getting emptied.. The demo was done yesterday. The crew of four did a good job, worked their socks off and were gone by about 6:00pm. They cleaned up good and didn't damage any of the pavers as far as I can tell. It rained slightly...

    Pool replaster, Burbank CA

So after much procrastination I took the plunge and have started the resurface of the pool. The is currently a standard gunite/plaster finish and I am having it redone with a quartz, midnight blue. I have done this @ss backward as I already had the yard resurfaced so I hope my builder is very...

Pool remodel - Crystal Pool & Spa - SoCal

I look forward to seeing the pictures. I'm thinking of the quartz finish too. I've had one pool builder tell me I need to have an additional drain installed while another said I didn't. Do you have just the one drain ? Where is/are your drains located ?

Pool remodel - Crystal Pool & Spa - SoCal

That's a brave move !! I have other landscaping work in the yard I want done that they are going to quote. I'm also having Garocco come out for a quote but I am a bit wary of them, poor rating on the BBB and their reviews are mixed. But they did do work on a property near where I live that...

Pool remodel - Crystal Pool & Spa - SoCal

Since I saw your thread I have Crystal Pool and Spa coming out to bid on on remodeling my pool this week along with a couple of others contractors in the area. I don't plan on having work started until September so if you could keep the thread up to date I sure would appreciate hearing on how...

solar cover(blanket) reels - opinions wanted

The best aspect of the pool cover I find is that it stops the pool cooling down at night so we are pretty stringent about putting the cover on when we are done swimming. Typically the top 4" of water is really quite hot, like a bath really. When you remove the cover at say, 1:00pm after a few...

solar cover(blanket) reels - opinions wanted

I have used a cover on our pool for years and think they work very well and as advertised. The only problem is the longevity. I think if you look after them properly they will last three maybe four years before they start to disintegrate. I tend not to look after mine and it gets left out in the...

Considering fibreglass remodel - thoughts ?

I'm going to remodel my backyard this year and this includes resurfacing the deck and the tile around the pool. I reckon the pool needs some work too. Maybe it just needs a good scrub or something but I thought a fiberglass coating was more durable, longer lasting and requires less maintenance...

Considering fibreglass remodel - thoughts ?

I am considering using Lami Glass of America to resurface my plaster pool. They are located here in the Los Angeles area of California and use their own fiberglass product, Lami-Coat. They seem reputable but if anybody has any insight on them or their product it would be appreciated. But aside...

    Jimk reporting for duty !

Hello there ! I live in Burbank, California and have a smallish below ground pool. It's about 14' wide by 25' in length and I don't know too much about the equipment. I've been lurking for a while but I thought I would sign up and ask a few questions and seek advice. I have a weekly pool service...
