    DE Filter Recommendation for AGP

Hi I have a 24' round above ground pool and am looking to get a new filter. We previously had a sand filter, but I am thinking of going with DE. Can anyone recommend a good DE filter for our pool? It will be hooked up to a 1hp Hayward Powerflo Matrix Pump. Thanks, Steve

    Hose recommendations

For those of us who dont want to/aren't ready yet to hard plumb their systems, what are the recommended hoses to use? Right now I have some thick clear plastic tubing, similiar to what one would use on an aquarium (obviously larger and thicker) and one flex hose from skimmer to pump (pool store...

How many hours per day should I run my pump?

Well, with 12 hours, my water is clear, and I end up with a good bit of sediment spread around the bottom of the pool which the Rover Jr. takes care of (no vacuuming!). I dropped it down to 8 to see what happens. Considering it was keeping it clear with the return plugged (yes, I didnt realize...

I have a 24' round (14k gallons or so), with as Hayward S180t and a Hayward Powerflo Matrix 1HP pump. Right now I have it set for 12 hours per day, mainly because thats what the previous owners had it set at. Any opinions?

    Above ground pool cleaner

I'm new to pool ownership, but I'm going to throw my opinion into the ring. We have a 24' AGP and overthe winter our cover was destroyed. Our pool bottom was covered with dirt and leaves and I dreaded having to clean it. I bought a Pool Rover Jr. (no manual timer model) and I dropped it in to do...

Backwash port leaking, and no suction

Ok....I feel like an idiot and have to admit failure. The entire time I have been fighting with this pool, I did not realize that my brother in law had installed a plug behind the eyeball! Man, I feel like a moron, but on the plus side everything is working as it should and I have beautiful...

Backwash port leaking, and no suction

Yes. I have an on/off switch that I've been making great use of :) I've been lucky in that I have aquarium experience, so thats helped me a bit....always turn stuff off when doing something new.

Backwash port leaking, and no suction

Ok...still trying to get my pool in order. We have a Hayward S180t filter with a SP0714 multiport head. I have a couple issues I am trying to troubleshoot. 1. When I lift the handle, water will start coming out of the backwash port and around the handle. 2. I have a leak around the collar when...

Tips on installing new pump needed

Ok...another stupid question. I have the valves and I have the unions (proper ones as listed from HD). I am using clear tubing everywhere except the skimmer (flex hose). I am assuming I do not need to use the clamps with the unions and valves since I slip the tubing on and the joints on the...

Tips on installing new pump needed

I'm replacing my old pump and was looking for some tips to make the process go a bit smoother and dryer. Right now nothing is plumbed with valves. It is plumped with a flex hose from the skimmer to the pump, then from the pump it goes to the filter, and then out to the return in the pool. I...

What to do with old sand?

I was thinking of using it in the lawn. I could hide it in a planting bed.

What to do with old sand?

When you change your sand in your filter, how do you dispose of the old sand? My trashman would not appreciate 150lbs of sand in the can.

Recommend a pump & Filter for a 24' AGP Please

I did a little research here and it didnt seem like the 2 speed really offered any benefits. Maybe I'm missing something, and would love to be enlightened as the pump is the main focus. I was thinking 3/4hp...is that enough for a 24'? The filter is 150lb sand filter. Thanks!

Recommend a pump & Filter for a 24' AGP Please

We currently have a 24" AGP with a Hayward 180ST filter and an AO Smith Pump (pix attached). It appears to be 1HP and will be replacing it if it dies, or possibly sooner. I dont know much about pumps or filters(am trying to learn), but I am thinking of eventually replacing the sand filter with a...
