He is! He can't believe how clean and clear the pool looks; he kept asking if that's the color the water should be (beautiful blue!) and I couldn't understand what he meant... he said, "Well, it's never been that color before." :D He loves it!

As soon as I read this I ran outside (but, like, I ACTUALLY ran!) and turned on the pool light... OMG!!!!!! :colors: I did not know TFP water could do that!!!!! I actually haven't put DE into the filter yet. The filter is my husband's jurisdiction - I'm too easily overwhelmed by...

Stick with it and you'll get there. I was testing the water constantly and adding chlorine every single time it was below shock level. It took a lot of dedication and repetition but it worked WAY faster and WAY, WAY better than I expected it to... That picture of my pool when it was an...

I think I'm done!!! :whoot: The water is SO clear, OCLT was -1.0ppm, and CC is 0!!!! I'll probably bring it back up to shock level one more time tonight, just to be safe. The problem now is, with the water so clean and clear, I can see every stain and mark on the bottom of the pool... It's an...

    I found this at Walmart...

Too late; we bought 50 jugs.... No, we didn't! :jocolor: We're at the tail end of a SLAM so we've been buying 4-6 jugs at a time, but we won't need that much pretty soon (I hope!). We've just started with the TFP method so I don't know what my daily chlorine needs will be. But, I'm a good...

    I found this at Walmart...

So, it sounds like this is a good product to use. I'm not so much concerned about the cost... I'm still learning this method and I just didn't want to put anything into the pool that I wasn't sure about. My husband was excited about it because we used much less quantity than the generic bleach...

New to TFP - Can't seem to get it right!

I'm so excited to see this progress. The pool water is mostly clear. This morning I found grayish/white clumps at the bottom of the pool (dead algae, I'm guessing?) and I vacuumed it up with the suction cleaner. I'm still losing about 3-4ppm of FC overnight, so I'm going to stay the course...

    I found this at Walmart...

I'm still new at the TFPC method so I wanted to run this by the veterans and get some feedback. It says it has 10.00% sodium hypochlorite. This is basically the same as the generic bleach, just stronger, right? I bought it for $3.64 at Walmart and it has a full gallon of chlorine - 128 oz...

Great, thanks! I'll try that next time. :) - - - Updated - - - I was talking with my husband about this last night. He read that page (Add DE to a Sand Filter) but he was confused about it... He said it didn't sound like enough DE for 300 lbs of sand. Is it just a couple of cups that need to...

Yep! You can't see it in the picture, but the algae was waving a white flag in surrender... I took that picture this morning around 10:00; we were out of town all day and when we came back (around 7:00) the water was even bluer. FC went down a bit (FC-16, CYA-60), so I poured in more...

Pool looks WAY better this morning! It's blue again, but still cloudy. Lost 3ppm of FC overnight so we poured in enough bleach to bring it back up to shock level. I'll post a pic in a bit.

Thanks! People have already been SO helpful! - - - Updated - - - I am, thanks! I made that mistake the first time I did the test and realized I'd need a refill pretty quick so I switched to the 0.5ppm method.

Re: Is this right?! Need guidance Update: I poured enough bleach into the pool to bring the FC to shock level of 24. And I've been checking FC every hour or so. Here are my results: @1:35 (30 minutes after pouring bleach into the pool) FC=24 @2:41 FC=23 (full sun, 100 degrees)...

Re: Is this right?! Need guidance So, I've replaced about 40-45% of the water in the pool. I put 2 gallons of bleach in the pool last night while I was refilling it because it just looked so green and murky. Here are my test results from this morning: FC - 13 CC - 0 pH - 7.6...

Re: Is this right?! Need guidance I'm in the process of partially draining the pool as we speak. For chlorine, we've started using liquid chlorine (8.25% generic bleach).

Re: Is this right?! Need guidance The water is green with a slight brownish tint. And it's murky. So, first step would be drain/refill before doing anything else, right?

Is this right?! Need guidance I'm newly registered with TFP and I just got my Taylor K-2006 test kit from Amazon. I tried testing the chlorine levels but I'm not sure if I'm doing this right... Some background: We bought a house with a pool - our first ever. My husband has been taking care...

I forgot to mention that I live in the California Central Valley... it gets HOT! It was 106 degrees today. I'm newly registered as a member to TFP, but I've been studying up on this method for a couple months. I'm committed to this process but my husband isn't convinced yet and wants to revert back to the pool store. Our problem is that we don't have our own pool test kit (it's on order, to be...
