First ALGAE problem in 21 yrs!

Thanks for everything! Looks like I'm losing about 2ppm FC per day, which equates to 16oz of 12.5% per day to keep me at 7. I'm loving this method!

First ALGAE problem in 21 yrs!

Well I think my SLAM is done! Thanks so much for everyone's help, the pool looks great! So now I just let my FC levels come down to "normal" for my CYA of 50-60? I was thinking of maintaining normal levels of 5ppm FC so I could use the OTO test. 1) Would that be OK? 2) Any other suggestions to...

FC different with 3 consecutive tests?

I tested my FC and thought the number was a little low. For the heck of it, I tested again and got a higher number, then tested again and got a number in between the two. I'm using a TF-100 Test Kit and testing at 10ml. My CYA is around 60 and I'm trying to finish my SLAM by keeping FC at 27...

I've been buying liquid "shock" from Ocean State Job Lot. It's 12.5%, a case of four gallons for $11.99. Hasn't seemed "old" as it brings my FC levels up just fine per Pool Math.

First ALGAE problem in 21 yrs!

Thanks again! I have the TF-100 test kit, it doesn't mention that in the standard instructions, but I'll keep that in mind when I get back down to "normal" levels after the SLAM.

First ALGAE problem in 21 yrs!

OK...Just an update. I'm now on Day 6 of my first SLAM process. I have to admit, I almost got a little discouraged after a few days and was tempted to just throw 5 gallons at it since the outdoor temps were in the 90's, and I thought it may speed things up so we could use the pool, but I stayed...

    Pristine blue help

Hi Mommyjnny, You do not have to drain the pool 1/2 way. That may affect your your liner. Just drain down to below the skimmer and refill and repeat a few times over the course of a month or two. The metals (copper) will be gone over time. Maybe do longer backwashes also. They have a test for...
