Could you use a plug in with a remote on/off or would that damage the cyclone? They should make them with a remote for self-closers.

We have a cyclone and added some ports to add antifreeze to make closing easier.

I'm on day 2 of running with freshly TSP'd grids and salt cell is now working perfectly. It had to be the oil. Phosphate test came up cream color which is 0 on the test strip bottle.

Depends on how often your car mechanic uses your pool I guess, I have a heavy grease load in my pool. If I don't TSP the grids then DE doesn't stick, pressure goes up and apparently my salt cell won't work. I'm on day 2 of the cell working perfectly.

yes, single speed. It wasn't showing low flow, just low salt and inspect cell and the flow was pretty powerful thru the returns which is why I didn't suspect overly dirty grids.

From what I just went thru with my hayward cell flashing like Las Vegas and seeing that you have a DE filter, when was the last time you had a TSP cleaning done on the grids? My symptoms pointed to a bad cell but after the TSP & ahh-some cleaned off the oil on the grids my cell is reading...

Well, the cell seems to be functioning 24 hours after the grid cleaning and filter pressure is normal. Water clarity was perfect the entire time, no chlorine loss, but pressure was higher than normal and I know there was a lot of mechanic-husband-oil in the grids. So perhaps the oil did...

Hayward doesn't let you submit a claim as a consumer (at least that's what they told me). The pool store is in another city so I'm waiting to see if cleaning the DE grids in TSP/Ahh-Some fixes the salt cell problem.

It is "real" TSP from the hardware store. Since a mechanic spends a lot of time in the pool I should probably look into the pool enzyme. I ended up doing the TSP soak/rinsed really good and then used ahh-some filter cleaner soak/rinse. The TSP definitely got most of the filth out and then...

I bought a salt cell from InyoPools 2/2021 and installed 5/2021. This year it's consistently reading low and flashing. I tested my salt level and it's 3070. Sometimes the cell reads 600, sometimes 1900 and occasionally it'll read 3100. It must be generating because FC is hovering around 3-5...

I've used a drain king but I normally just open the pump basket by the motor and use a garden hose to fill the closest skimmer line while keeping the main and other skimmer valves shut.

Hayward wasn't covered because pool guy passed away and therefore the warranty passed with him. Inyopools said the replacement is not covered under warranty. We can check the wiring when we replace the next one.

We're on our 3rd pool pump motor in 7 years. The motor sits in shade until the heat of the day starts and then it's in full sun until evening, it'll start just fine after it's cooled off. When I placed an umbrella over the motor it stayed running all day. We can't continue to use the umbrella...

We're lucky to have Infant Swim of America in our city and they teach kids to immediately roll over on their backs and float. This becomes second nature to even the littlest ones who may fall in. Kids don't need to know how to swim, they need to know how to float and save themselves...

You never know what's in people's heads. His business was disbanded and luckily I found this site to maintain our pool.

Thank you for the response and PDF. We don't have a local tech that I know of. It's impossible to get anyone to do anything with pools in our area. Nebraska isn't really known to be a big hotspot for pools so nobody wants the territory.
