Any reviews yet on the new Polaris Quattro?

Any additional reviews or opinions? Any updated info from the previous posters? I'm considering this to replace an old Polaris.

Pool light went out while draining pool

Yup. Fixture is flooded to stay cool. Never turn on your light unless its submerged. At least now you get to learn how to replace the bulb.

Is going SWG the best thing you have ever done?

Best decision I've made. My pool has been open for almost 7 weeks and I've used exactly two gallons of bleach and a little acid. Second best was replacing my 10 yr old pump with a new variable speed.

    Chlorinator and VS Pump

My system/cell is three years old. I called CircuPool and spoke to Jason. He said there was no problem with inverting the cell if it is mounted horizontally. As long as it is oriented properly in terms of direction of flow, you won't have any problems. Give them a call if you have any...

    Chlorinator and VS Pump

I don't, but it's exactly as it sounds. My cell is installed in a horizontal section of pipe. I simply loosened both unions and rotated it 180 degrees. The clear plastic section is now facing the ground.

Connecting Automation, VS Pump, Polaris, and Chlorinator

Discussed in seperate thread, but I ended up rotating the chlorinator 180 degrees to make it upside down. Based on design of the CircuPool cell, this places the metal strips at the bottom of the cell. No alarm at low speeds, but I did develop a large gas bubble. Was able to settle in at 30%...

    Chlorinator and VS Pump

Thanks all. I read through some older posts and saw some suggestions. I called CircuPool and confirmed the unit can be rotated 180 degrees (upside down). I did that and I can now run it very low (15%) without an alarm. However, I do build up quite a gas bubble. I settled in at 30%, which...

    Chlorinator and VS Pump

Just installed a variable speed pump. Trying to dial in speeds. My RG60G is throwing a water alarm unless I'm running at 45%. Seems awfully fast and not what others are able to run at. Was hoping I could run it slower. Reading some other threads, it sounded like salt level could be a factor...

Connecting Automation, VS Pump, Polaris, and Chlorinator

Just to close out this thread.... Installed new pump this weekend. After speaking with Hayward, I knew I had to run power directly to the pump and not through the control relay. I also connected a comm line between controller and pump. Once settings were adjusted and switches in the pump set...

    Variable Speed Pump Purchase

I just purchased a Hayward TriStar VS pump. Whatever you purchase, make sure it qualifies for the $400 (my utility company provided a spreadsheet with make and model numbers). I paid just under $800. Didn't think about warranty, but I received a card and will submit. Would be surprised if...

Variable Speed Pumps - Run Times

Thanks to all. I understand every pool is different, was just looking to see what others have settled in on. I'll try to get the low speed dialed in so that the SWCG works properly. Then determine a high speed that will make the Polaris booster pump happy.

Variable Speed Pumps - Run Times

Just purchased a Hayward TriStar VS Pump and will be installing this weekend. I need to run high speed for a period of time for my Polaris cleaner. I also have a chlorinator. Everything is automated with time clocks. Curious how others run their pumps, assuming you're switching between high...

Found leak around Skimmer, now what?

3M 5200 isn't recommended to be installed under the water (although I have boating experience where it has worked). But it is used for applications where it will be under the water after curing. They sell a fast-cure version that sets up in about 30 minutes and fully cures in 24 hours. That's...

Found leak around Skimmer, now what?

Just did this repair myself. I removed all existing caulk and used 3M 5200, which is specifically made for use under the water.

Connecting Automation, VS Pump, Polaris, and Chlorinator

Thank you. Pumps arrives tomorrow. I'll have a few days to look things over and try to come up with a game plan. Will try to install this weekend.

Connecting Automation, VS Pump, Polaris, and Chlorinator

I currently have a Hayward OnCommand automation system. Single speed pump and auxiliary pump for polaris. Chlorine generator as well. OnCommand turns pump on and off via schedule. Also turns on polaris pump via auxiliary switch. They are interlocked to prevent polaris from coming on without...

    Recommendations for larger pool...

Same pool size as you. I installed a CircuPool RG60g SWG earlier this year. Love it.

    Does an SWG produce air?

Check your filter. When mine begins to get clocked and pressure builds, flow goes down and my SWG starts to build up gas. I then get lots of bubbles at the discharges. When my filter is clean and flowing strong, no bubbles.

Fifty year old pool light out

Please replace the entire fixture. Think safety.

    Pool Light Turning Off

This occurred 2-3 times last year, and once this year. Pool light is a standard type (Halogen I believe), located a few feet down under the diving board. Light operates fine, turns on and off. But on very warm days, when the pool water is very warm, the light will suddenly turn off. If I...

    Why are SWG's so Expensive?

    Because they are worth it!

Watch out with those salt test strips!

I've had the same problem. Bought strips with the test kit from this forum, and also picked up strips at the pool store. Different brands, but I'm certain they are the same exact strip. Directions are almost nonexistent. Place in water, look at spike, use chart. Well, how much water, do you...

    Newbie pool questions

Why do you say that? She reported that FC is 3 at night and 3 in the morning. Sounds like she is just losing chlorine due to sunlight burn off and needs to raise CYA.

Need Help- SLAM/Shock and still can't get FC to hold

Thanks again. We have a huge summer party at the house this weekend, so I'll raise up the FC using bleach before the party. I'll then pump and dump next week to bring the CYA down. Adjust PH and see where I am. My CC may actually be 0 and FC 5. The color change occurred and then went back...

Need Help- SLAM/Shock and still can't get FC to hold

Quick update- haven't done anything with the pool other than enjoy it. Its been crystal clear, despite the constant sun, lots of swimmers, and rain. SWG is so nice to have. Results from sample taken this evening: FC 4.5 CC .5 TC 5.0 CH 275 TA 100 PH 7.5 CYA 90-100 I know my CYA is still a...

    SWG getting airlocked

Thanks all. If I put all the answers together, it sounds like the polaris booster pump could be causing the problem. SWG produces gas, and when the booster pump is running, main flow is cut down and the gas bubble "grows". The negative slope of the SWG makes the problem worse by allowing the...

    SWG getting airlocked

OK, well maybe my question is becoming two questions- - Air in the SWG. I agree a little is not a concern, I still have flow. But if it's large and the cells aren't completely submerged, wouldn't that be a problem? - I didn't notice if the pump basket had air in it, sorry. Last night, it...

    SWG getting airlocked

This isn't an every day thing, and has only happened twice that I know of. I noticed once that my pump was running but I had little to no flow in the pool. When I looked at the pump, I noticed that the SWG had a big slug of air inside (casing is clear). I turned off the pump, turned it back...

Need Help- SLAM/Shock and still can't get FC to hold

UPDATE: Got my test kit today, but first, what have I done since last week. I couldn't sit around and let this thing win, especially with the holiday weekend approaching. Wife called me one day and said Kmart was running a sale on Tri-Chlor shock at 58%. I was thinking my CYA was low at the...

    Compupool SWG

From what I understand, you can run a SWG at 10% for one hour, or 100% for 6 minutes, and it will produce the same amount of chlorine. Seems to make sense. So it really comes down to figuring out how much output you need, and how you want that introduced.
