Will black winter cover/tarp keep water warmer for spring opening?

AndyTN, just curious if you ever got your pool warm in the Spring. We are in the same predicament. Live in west KY and would like to start warming the pool in April and May but the stuff falling from the trees make it impossible to use our solar cover during this time. I’m toying with using our...

Day 11 of my SLAM. I did the overnight test last night and we only lost 1 ppm FC so I'm ready to start lowering the FC and checking my other chemicals. We got our concrete deck this week (FINALLY!) and got the furniture set out. Planning on a swim this weekend for our Mothers Day cookout we are...

I haven't been taking pics. The pics I took this morning I sent to hubby because he's been out of town since Sunday...he even said "looks like it did when I left!" I'm not seeing much FC loss during the day. I haven't really added much bleach this week. We've been cloudy with low temps this...

I am testing about every 2-3 hours. I'm running our auto-vac all day, off at night. I'm brushing it every day, but maybe i'm doing it wrong or not brushing hard enough. I didn't think brushing would hard to figure out lol. No debris in the bottom. We do have seed squiggly things falling off...

Thank you! I will stop testing the other stuff in the pool :) Newbie over reaction! I will brush, brush, brush today! I'm running the auto-vac during the day. I don't know much about the filter psi...I'll be honest, I was just backwashing it every couple to 3 days. I'll read up on here about...

    SLAMing chemical results first day

Can someone take a look at my SLAM results from this morning? This is day 3 of SLAM and I can't tell any difference in our green pool :( Pool math says to add some calcium chloride and stabilizer, which earlier in the week it was advised to wait on the other chemicals. So I just wait and test...

    SLAMing chemical results first day

Yay! I was hoping someone would tell me that! I don't have any other chemicals on hand at home and would have to make a trip to town this evening :) So, I'll test again in the morning and add bleach if needed again to get to that 20 FC SLAM level from earlier or do I recalculate the the FC...

Starting pumps for the first time and need to SLAM

Hi folks! It's been a while since I've been on here...we made it through a KY winter without a cover on our inground pool. (still waiting for concrete for our decking!) Least to say, we are ready to get the pumps running and water chemistry figured out. We have done this pool all DIY, except...

Construction almost finished, time to close question

I was just hopping on the see about the Cya stabilizer...how much do I put in? Kim, you are correct, we don't have a heater for the pool. Nice sock idea duanebe! I was just going to hang over the side but stringing it over the deep end won't be a problem! Actually sounds like a good project to...

Thank you for the reply Kim! I am pretty clueless about the testing kit and I've "looked" at the Pool Math page but its been a while. We are newbies to a pool :) We do have a small sump pump from a goldfish pond. Tonight I'm going to sit down and read, read, read about the test kit and the...

Construction almost finished, time to close question

Hi Folks, I'm back on here now that we are finishing up our owner build. Just waiting on our concrete deck and then finishing up our electrical. So I have a question about closing our pool but I first need to give some info on what we've done. So our plumbing is run, we have water in our...

Owner build Fall 2016, in need of advice

The kits come in a 42" wall panel or 48" wall panel. I assumed the 42" panel was the standard size but if it's safer to add the extra few inches for the deep end then we will def'ly do the 48". Our youngest boys are 7 yo, but they grow like weeds! I would be fine with a deeper shallow end...

    Diy vinyl liner inground pool

Hi folks, I've been perusing the forums for a couple of months as we have been debating, deciding, wishing and hoping for our own inground pool.
